I don't think they struggled to get sponsors, any sensible company will jump at the opportunity to have their name on Chelsea's kit, they instead struggled to find a sponsor that was ready to match their sponsorship monetary demands.

They have a bigger stadium and facilities that generate bigger revenue and sponsorship, for as long as Chelsea remain at Stamford bridge their revenue will be limited especially now that there is no big billionaire to fund them .
