Terror in Mushin (Part II): Another Night, Another Attack — Ogungbaiye and Martins Streets Fall Victim Mushin, Lagos — June 2, 2025 Just one night after the brutal murder of a teenager at No. 9 Omoniyi Street, the nightmare in Mushin continues. The most recent attack occurred last night on Ogungbaiye Street and Martins Street, further deepening the community’s sense of fear, abandonment, and outrage. According to residents, four houses were invaded in the middle of the night by the same violent gang that has been terrorising the area for more than a year. Families were forcefully awakened and robbed at gunpoint. Some victims who attempted to resist were hacked with machetes and sustained serious injuries. What makes this latest incident even more devastating is the widespread destruction left behind. Over twenty vehicles parked along Ogungbaiye and Martins Streets were vandalised — windows smashed, tyres destroyed, and in some cases, vehicles stripped of their parts. The sheer scale of the attack has left the street looking like a war zone, with broken glass and shattered lives littering the morning aftermath. Once again, there was no response from the authorities. No patrols arrived. No investigation followed. Residents are no longer just afraid; they are losing faith entirely in the institutions meant to protect them. This is no longer about theft. It is sustained violence, meant to terrorise. It is coordinated and repeated, and it is happening night after night. The residents of Mushin are exhausted. They have shouted. They have written. They have begged. Yet they continue to be ignored. Every call to the police rings unanswered. Every email to the state security address vanishes without reply. People are dying. Children are being murdered. Homes are being violated. Lives are being destroyed. When will the government attend to our cries? This is no longer mere criminality. This is terrorism — and it is unfolding in a state with a functioning government. If this can happen in Mushin without consequence, it can happen anywhere. The silence of those in power has become complicity. We refuse to stay silent. We demand protection. We demand justice. We demand to live without fear in our own homes. Mushin is under siege, and the world must pay attention. — A Worried Mushin Resident |

Why can't the street associations employ vigilante or use OPC? The baale/oba should impose a curfew from dusk to dawn..... Mushin isn't for English speaking like you're doing here. Why can't each street mobilize boys to guard the area? |

Those 2 area name Mushin and Idi Araba or Idi oro, those places are not for the faint heart or learned. Only the strong survive. Nothing good comes out of Mushin. |

Mobilise armed guards...the terrain of Mushin is porous, security presence should be high there...why is the poor not being protected? There ought to be a lot of police presence in these volatile areas, everybody knows Mushin is a crime scene. |

It's appalling to know that till the last attack no action has been taken to stop the activities of the culprits. The police division within Mushin axis should be quarried because they have a lot to respond to in this regard. |

Esthered:How many night guards or OPC do you think a street can engage to face more than a hundred thieves? In 1999 or there about in Ajegunle then, we the residents use to volunteer two persons/night from each compound for night watch. I think we succeeded then because that area was predominantly SS and SE residents. The street even had an Ibo name and it happened to be the longest in Ajegunle. |

benefitzte:100 thieves at once, I want to believe they were many but not up to 100. They can use both OPC and youth per apartment in the street on rotation basis. Curfew with law agencies for enforcement will go a long way. |

Can't you just relocate? |

Is Mushin not part of Lagos mainland? If it were Ikorodu, I would understand but why has the government sat back and let Mushin become a criminal enclave? danvon:Give him rent money and he might consider. |
| Re: Terror In Mushin (part II): Another Night, Another Attack by danvon(m): 1:03pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
kingthreat:If the rent is so affordable that you can risk your life and properties for it, then maybe you shouldn't complain too much. Police officers all over the world are strictly classist, they would not risk their lives amd jobs fighting for people who cannot fight for themselves. Relocations are the most peaceful and most effective form of protest. |

Same Lagos where Sanwo uses police n army to ambush protesters or another? |
| Re: Terror In Mushin (part II): Another Night, Another Attack by CodeTemplarr: 2:54pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
danvon:why not the ever mobile police supported by army men go there and do their job like they did during endsars and have done for every other protests thereafter? |

CodeTemplarr:Because Mushin has no value (which is why the rent is cheap). If those protesters had restricted their looting to Mushin and Ajegunle they might have gotten away with it, they went to Lekki and Ikeja instead. It reminds me of that joke where a homeless beggar held a sign on his neck saying 'i leave, your rent goes up'. If those criminals leave Mushin the rent would go up and most people complaining about the crime would probably no longer be able to afford living there. |
