The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has begun disbursing arrears of the newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance to eligible former corps members across Nigeria.

This payment follows the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, which increased the NYSC allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
Although the new rate officially took effect in March 2025, it applies retroactively to corps members who completed their service.

Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, the @officialnyscng Director-General, confirmed that the government is committed to settling all outstanding arrears. He assured that once funds are released, payments would be made directly to the bank accounts of eligible ex-corps members, whose details are already on file

When minimum wage was increased in 2019, the then NYSC DG told corp members that they weren't entitled to arrears cos they are not federal government workers.

But the DG and Mr President in their magnanimity decided to pay these young Nigerians who spent One Year of the heor lives serving Nigeria.

This is highly commendable and a good one.

I never thought NYSC will keep to their earlier promise of paying the arrears, but they proved us wrong.

Arrears of how many months, this is too vague. The statement should be implicit stating how many months arrears from what month to what month and what batch of NYSC will benefit, they should not low-key pay fee corpers in the batch that's already graduated but now compute and embezzle the rest of the funds

Hello, did you later find out why? I've seen others that received same amount though I received 44k
