An X user, with handle @greatness0220, who claimed to have worked in Bishop Oyedepo’s household dropped a bombshell: “I worked in Bishop Oyedepo’s house and they throw food away every day, but you as a cook dare not eat even in the kitchen.” The claim paints a stark contrast between excess and deprivation. While mountains of food are allegedly discarded daily, kitchen staff are reportedly forbidden from touching even a morsel. The reason? A chilling level of oversight—CCTV cameras allegedly monitor the kitchen 24/7, ensuring no one steps out of line.”

But it gets worse. The alleged whistleblower goes on to describe the security team as “always looking hungry and haggard,” calling it “a sad sight.” The image of well-fed elites wasting food while employees go hungry is a gut punch, especially in a country like Nigeria, where millions struggle to afford basic meals. Could this be true in the home of a man who preaches prosperity and divine provision?

I won't be surprised that excessive abuse must have led to this extreme control and surveillance. Lots of people usually believe that if they work with rich people they should steal at every opportunity they get and get rich quickly.

When I was young I remember when my Mum caught our paid house help syphoning foodstuffs.

Where I used to work in the past, a staff who was sent to manage a branch in Lagos ate the money for his rent and lived in the office. Converted the female assistant that was attached to him to a live in lover. Stole enough and resigned to setup his own shop.

Where there is no control, most Nigerian's will steal and abuse privileges. When strict control is applied like this, they'll tell the world how wicked you are.

2. Did the owners of the business ensure that not only was the man arrested, charged, and made to pay back every dime he stole, but his lover as well, pay for aiding him in his theft? Again, theft is a completely different matter from the issue raised in the OP.

You heard only one side of the story and you've jumped to conclusion just because the narrator of the single story is poor.
As Phil Collins sang in his song, we always need to hear both sides of the story. That's the only way you can get a balanced perspective.
