Why Are Nigerians Been Short Paid? 80K Monthly Salary For A Store Manager by Namelesscoder(op): 6:04pm On May 30, 2025
Hi people, I just created this post to actually share my concerns regarding Nigerian companies, even if they are making millions, they don’t want the workers to live any meaningful life.

Recently had my sister visiting me in my area due to an appointment she had at US embassy and we get talking, I got to understand her husband who is a store manager for a brewery company is only been paid 80,000 naira per month, this man has 3 kids and that got me really worried.

I’m into software development and social media management and only one of the project I handle their contents pay me $65 USD weekly which is 105,000 naira (attached) and I manage up to 4 different accounts plus other web development gigs that do comes once in while.

I don’t even need to leave my house or do any physical work for this company and I’m earning 420,000 naira monthly for just creating their tweets and contents to post online.

In saner climes, like Norway for example, store manager earns nothing less than $3500 pm and it’s the same amount of work both managers will be required to complete.

Why are Nigerians underpaying their workers? We have so many frustrated working class in the country.

A lot of Nigerian entrepreneurs are nothing but wicked. They'll use people as slaves and still pay them peanuts.

$3500 in Norway? That might be exaggeration. Like in England here its between 2000 to 2500 but you have to pay taxes lets say 1900 will hit your account after tax. Taking house rent and other expenses at the end of the month u still get 500 to 600 which is not bad.

As at 2014 five hundred pounds is just 140k this means if u are earning 200k to 250k in 2014 you are more or far batter than someone earning 2k in Europe

How bad our economy has degraded under APC

Back to Nigeria.
Businesses are struggling also.. Running fuel, facing inflation.

During inflation it's said that those on fixed income do suffer loses.

3 years ago 80k will get u like 3 bags of rice... But today it can only get u 1 bag. And in 2015 80000 will get u 8 bags of rice. The irony is that 8 bags of rice cost 700,000. Thats almost a million.

To compensate or adjust for inflation your uncle should be earning 700+ per month

But is it nice to keep money growth this high? Economically its not.. Its way too high.

The naira devaluation really caused hardship on Nigeria and we haven't seen what the government has achieved with it..

During next. Elections please mobilise ur family to get voters card and stand vote APC out.

We need someone who could take security priority number 1. The Fulani herdsmen, bandits, boko haram and also ESN must be tackled and rooted out. If the north is free then farmers can return back to farm produce more food for the everb growing population.
Support dangote and other local refineries

We need to tackle corruption, construct roads linking villages to township, upgrade our railway systems.

If all this are put in place then prices will fall drastically.

I genuinely value your contribution, however the top executives of these companies are still making money and didn’t cut down their own salaries, they increase the cost of the goods and services and you will expect that to translate to employees, it’s one of the reasons I don’t apply to Nigerian companies or gigs. The mentality is to pay you lower than you deserved.

Why are Nigerians underpaying their workers? We have so many frustrated working class in the country.
Your concern about the disparity in salaries between Nigerian companies and their international counterparts is valid. The issue of underpayment is multifaceted, involving economic factors, industry standards, and cultural attitudes toward compensation.

Key Factors Contributing to Underpayment:
1. Economic Conditions: Nigeria's economic challenges, including inflation and currency fluctuations, impact salary scales.
2. Industry Standards: Different industries have varying pay scales, often influenced by profit margins and competition.
3. Lack of Regulation: Weak labor laws and enforcement can lead to exploitation.
4. Skill Demand: High demand for certain skills, like software development, can drive up pay in those areas.

Potential Solutions:
1. Advocacy for Labor Rights: Strengthening labor laws and enforcement can help protect workers.
2. Industry Standards: Companies can adopt fair pay practices, recognizing the value of their employees.
3. Skill Development: Investing in education and training can increase the supply of skilled workers, potentially driving up wages.

Your Story:
Your experience highlights the growing demand for tech skills and the potential for higher earnings in fields like software development and social media management.

That's how you folks always jump out to make conclusions even when not sure.

Who told you the group is ESN?? You captured some and they told you they belong to the ESN?
You don't know there are many other groups operating across the region? Are Ekpa's group also ESN?? Dokubo's group ESN? Local kidnappers and armed robbers ESN?

Are you from Orsu? Do you know that everyone deserted them place immediately ESN located their base in that location?

Are u aware that all pole wires were looted and road destroyed?

Are you aware that all schools were burned down?

Are you aware all hospital and health centres were destroyed

Can u boldly say Fulani herdsmen are now bold enough to chase a whole local government out?
If u doubt what i said visit Orsu Ihiteukw then go down from there to all communities n villages

What do u mean by Dokubo's group? Then what's the work of ESN group in Orsu?

Local kidnappers and armed robbers can't climb pool and take all wires. Burn hospital then burn schools n hotel

chinasa nworu was on twitter n Facebook chairing them up and even said any local government hope uzordimma goes to commission things will be razed down.

It has not gotten to this if we must agitate and even if we all don't like hope we should be patients within few years he will be out.

See how Abia is peaceful and developing. Imo state wss ahead of Abia previously

Software developer are also short paid, the executives of these big companies gets paid well but they won’t extend to employees, the labor union needs to be disbanded and replaced

Hi, Good afternoon..

Please how can I study past questions for graduate trainee programs (GT) so as to be called for the next stage?

I have tried it for some time now and it's really becoming frustrating.

I would be 27 by September and this means that by then, I would have crossed the benchmark for most GT Program.

And I even wanted to go for 1 -3 years experience jobs in Lagos and other states, but I can't due to location and I don't have much to pair with a roommate.
