Depression Led Me Into Seeking Solace In Cultism. How Do I Exit The Group Now? by Chram(op):
For security reasons, I decided to post this with this acc.
I don't know what to do and how to say this. But I pray and hope that you understand and offer me the Best advice possible.

Been vulnerable and defenceless coupled with depression led me into joining a cult group. If I had joined while in school, I may not have lived to tell the full story cos I was going to be killed. But thank God for sparing my life. I joined after sch.
I was depressed. I was oppressed. I had nobody(not even a family) to fight for, or defend me. I'm this gentle kind of person and it seems most gentle people suffer more in Nigeria as people take advantage of your gentility. You can be avoiding trouble yet trouble keeps finding you. That's just the simple way to put it.
Two years ago, I got initiated and was assigned someone( an old member) who would be giving me constant orientation of the cult group. Three weeks later, I traveled and I heard that same guy and another Member had been killed by rival cult group. I was terrified. Before the clash, I had already been warned by the rivals to stay off else I may not return home with my both legs as they intended destroying one or both of my legs. I became even more scared cos I was a stranger in that place. This was what led to my Traveling outta the place..
I joined them in attending all the meetings and these meetings always result in attacks from rival groups. Then I asked myself why I should be living such a careless life that could make me die like a cockroach at any time?
I asked myself again, Do I want to die so soon after all I suffered to achieve in life?
I have completely left the environment, blocked all the phone contacts of my colleagues and even on Facebook. I'm no longer interested. I want peace. I have come along way and wouldn't want to be harmed for no reason but because I joined a wrong association out of Depression and loneliness.
For those who were there and denounced their association with them, is there any other thing I need to do?
I'm at peace with myself because I didn't kill or harm anybody while I was in the group. Since I joined after sch, I wasn't recruited into the rank and file of the association but as a Senior Man.

Sir, do not mind the young man trying to drag you back. Don't listen to his lies. If possible, block him on NL. That's the rubbish they keep yapping to keep men bound.
It's only through Jesus Christ, that you can experience the peace of God, and thank God you've found him - He that dwells in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.

The mistake had been made, lessons learnt, and thanks to God for sparing your life.
Join a bible believing church that prays fervently and encourages personal development (I'd also suggest listening to apostle Joshua Selman's messages), attend life changing seminars, and seek friendship with people who are going to your destination in life.

Don't live your life in fear of anything or anyone, Just avoid any means of contact to the former area, change your mobile, and get a job, skill ... as it were.
If you have 1st connection relatives back there, be wise and discreet with communications, and do that anonymously.

You can still be who you dream to be.
I've battled depression before, and I know how hopeless life might look. But your reality would be what you declare and work life to be.
Things have taken a new turn for me, I believe yours too will get better and better speedily.

Stay blessed bro.

I am not preaching religion and I didn't make those move because of religious reasons. I stayed away from these things because they just don't interest me, i see them as stress.

That's how one of my guy joined cult without my awareness

This guy invited me for a drink at one joint, we were there till 8:30pm, this guy newly joined hoo how come he's now wanted by rivals

To cut the story short they located us at the joint, they beat this my guy without touching me

Luckily for him they didn't kill him

Last month makes it 3 years he left Lagos and relocated back to his village, but since last year his number wasn't reachable again

maybe he changed number or he's dead I can't say cry cry

What do you mean by oppression?

“ I was depressed. “

Kindly elaborate/ Give a few instances of such scenarios where you were taken advantage of.

I once had a friend who swore he would never joined Cultism, after graduation he went to Lagos to pursue his music career and business, he had rich friends and he was told that for him to have connections he needs to join, he was desperate for money and he later joined. Nobody knows he is a cultist except few of his friends but he regrets joining them. He left Lagos and Cultism was one of the reasons he left
