Holy Ghost Central Terminal
You know when they intend to commence operations with the new buses and terminals? I know the state gov’t is expecting an extra 50 cng buses this month.

And I hope they’ve now installed step-free access in the new terminals.

The new transport terminals in Enugu were set to be launched last month, but there were some adjustments and additions that needed to be made to bring them up to international standard regarding safety and comfort of the travelling public and staff.

I remember commenting earlier, about three months ago when the terminals were initially showcased, that for them to be considered to be modern terminals, they needed to have step-free access. I also commented on the bridge connecting both terminals, noting how it was open to the elements and did not directly link one terminal to the other, and that wheelchair users and those unable to use steps were not considered in its design. In this latest clip, i noticed all those nagging issues have now been addressed satisfactorily, and they even changed the roofing to let in more light into the terminal building, as well as upgraded the airconditioning to a centralised system. This shows a state gov't listening to suggestions and constructive criticism.

Commendable job being done!

Showcasing ongoing works at the soon to be launched Enugu International Hospital that's being built by the Governor Mbah administration.

The construction is being done by Tanit Medical Engineering and will come with all the features and departments that will make it truly a world-class international medical facility of reference. The narration in the clip lists out all those features and departments. You will be impressed even if you're a layman that may not know much about the intricacies involved in such a project.

Also, behind the medical facility you can see yet another construction looming large....ie, the new 5-star ICC hotel!

Enugu Transport system overhaul is commendable. But am really disappointed by what I hear as to its operation. Apparently its going to operate like any other shared yellow bus. It will leave only when full, and will share routes with yellow buses. This is not how to operate a modern city bus system. You have made the investment. built stops, terminals and even roads for this. Please run it in such a ways that it will be sustainable, neat, reliable and operate at world standard, not Lagos standard. Am posting this hoping it gets to the Governor. Great Vision, wonderful execution, now being operated like Lagos molue. Which Lagos governors retain for incubating touts and area fathers for political control.

Instead of going accross cities, start with in-city transport.

You create route based on bus ID. Eg. Bus A1 goes the route Holy Ghost, Stadium, Obiagu, Edinburgh, Kenyatta, Coal camp, Prisons, Back to Holyghost. You can dedicate two buses to this route, and they will pass every 15 mins. If you have enough Buses, you also create Bus B1 which will do same route in reverse. Which means the route will have four buses instead if 2. But you guys have just 100 buses, so go with just 2 per route.

Buses must arrive at designated bus stops within certain time, delays are like 5 mins max.
City transport systems planning and management is actually studied at masters level, under Project management, So their are international experts who can help the state plan and manage this to world standard.

How do you pay for such a bus.

1. Bus cards, most residents will buy bus cards which have monthly subscription, and special card for students.

2. Visitors to the city will have Day ticket. A day ticket will cost like 5000, and you can use it all day long. By 12 midnight it becomes invalid.

3. Single ride and pay as you go are costly on such bus, because the rider is not sharing cost with the other city users, so it's priced accordingly. In this case I will say N1500 per ride on the circuit. Once you drop from the bus, the ticket becomes invalid.

Intra city transport should be left for private operators for now. Until the incity transport is well tuned.

You need to understand that the city bus system is like insurance . People in the city all pay for it, even when not using it, so it can be available when they want to use it. When we all pay for something, it become very cheap for us all due to economies of scale.

Last and most importantly, private bus operators, shared rides cannot be permitted to operate on the same route as the city bus. Only taxies can ply same route and must charge more than the bus, to provide priority service. This is the part that maimed Lagos BRT. You must remove all the yellow buses from the route to have sanity and reduce the traffic resistance to the buses arriving timely.

You need bus lanes only at hot traffic points, not like in Lagos where they marked the whole half road from ikorodu to cms as BRT lane, just to avoid the yellow buses

If you guys run those buses like Lagos BRT mole, they will become eyesores within just two years. Go to Madrid, Barcelona, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and learn or copy how modern bus systems operate. Do not copy Lagos BRT, its crap.

Another argument you will get is about loss of job to keke and yellow bus drivers. A modern bus system such as the one di described, requires at least 3 drivers per 12 hour day operation. Each can only drive for maximum of 4 hours. It requires cleaners, who clean the bus fast once it returns to its home base after each circuit. Infact each bus requires at least 3 drivers, 1 cleaner, various administration and maintenance staff. 100 buses alone will employ not less than 600 people, for proper operation. So ample space to retrain and employ keke and bus drivers in new roles.

Good suggestions! I also wondered whether at least some of the work and safety rules and procedures we normally see practised by transportation companies in say the UK or US were in use with this recently launched Enugu transportation system. I was expecting to see route identification for all the routes, so customers waiting at the bus stop will know which bus they're about to board. Also, as suggested, it's better the state gov't delay use of the new buses for inter-city travel until at least the next batch of 100 buses arrive and are deployed for service. For now, they should focus on finetuning the intra-city bus service and address any teething problems that may arise. The ticket pricing should also be such that those buying weekly, monthly or annual travelcards get some discount as this will financially benefit the customers and state gov't in the long run.

they know all this but there reasoning behind their own model is because it might not be favourable to the common citizens, purchasing power of people in the west is different for people in Nigeria, therefore certain policies no matter how good might not work in the current Nigeria setting

Stop embarrassing yourself here. What has Mbah achieved compare to massive development Soludo has brought to Anambra. I can only mention the local bus terminals, refurbished aeroplanes, completed abandoned auditorium in Enugu, what else has Mbah done? We are not even talking about the massive debt he had incurred?

Please watch, this is just one segment of what Soludo has achieved in Anambra.

Unbiased1:
This is my issue with some of you. You guys make vague statements devoid of facts. I was expecting you to mention what Soludo has achieved that is greater than what is currently obtainable in Enugu, but you mentioned none. You didn't even fact-check my points or make credible comparisons, just the usual "keep deceiving yourself" line that proofs nothing. Waste of argument.
This is a transformation with infrastructures not noise and propaganda Enugu is known for

Good suggestions, but i think this is something best left to the private sector as the state gov't has its hands full at the moment! This falls comfortably into the forte of the likes of Landmark or NESTOIL who are both doing something similar in Lagos, Enugu and Okija.

This is the tech hub I’ve been shouting about! Imagine transforming every inch of the East into a massive innovation powerhouse, just like during the civil war when RAPU sprang up everywhere, rolling out war machines. Only this time, instead of weapons, they’ll be producing smart products, groundbreaking technologies, and global solutions. From those ashes, the East can rise to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with South Korea and China as a new center of world-class innovation.

Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by IGBOSON1: 2:09pm On Sep 12, 2025
Recently, we saw Ethiopia launch the massive GERD dam that would supply more than 5,000 megawatts of electricity to the country and its neighbours. It was built at a cost of $5 billion and the funds were sourced by gov't issued bonds as well as remittances from Ethiopians in diaspora. The funding model used for the GERD dam is what i have always advocated for funding critical economy enabling infrastructure in Alaigbo/south-east! Nigeria receives on average about $20 billion yearly in diaspora remittances, and a modest estimation of the Igbo component of these remittances could be put at $5 billion....though i reckon it's much more! The Ethiopians were committed and patient enough to raise $5 billion over a specified period, and i feel this same commitment and patience could be replicated by Ndigbo to raise funds for the New Enugu City project and other infrastructure in the state. I'm referring to Enugu specifically because i've come to realise that it's presently difficult if not impossible to have a pan-Igbo approach to this funding initiative because the region in led by a lot of insular and inward-focused governors who prefer to work in silos and don't have a pan-Igbo worldview or approach to development! This is why i'm narrowing my attention specifically to Enugu, and Abia also, as i feel cautiously optimistic about governance in these two states, and feel their governors have the capacity and the trust of the public to drive this funding initiative! Both states have done sometjing similar, but on a smaller scale, with their security trust funds.

Ordinarily, the SEDC (south east development commission) would have been the best option for driving this funding model on a regional level, but has anyone heard anything from them lately? I was unimpressed at the time SEDC was inaugurated because i know it's just more of the same....just playing to the gallery, and the usual motion-without-movement that has seen Nigeria stagnate economically since the 70s and punch way below its weight!

So anyone close to Mbah or Otti could help us show this post to them so they can help kickstart the process ASAP as time is not on our hands and the rest of the world is fast leaving us behind! This could be a state infrastructure funding initiative, or it could be regional, though as i've already stated i don't have much faith in all the governors of the region and SEDC being serious and committed enough or having the capacity to see this through to a successful conclusion!

Like Ethiopia has done, Enugu state could use gov't issued bonds and diaspora remittances to raise at least $2 billion over the remaining 6 years of Mbahs' governance! This could be used for the New Enugu city project, a state rail network, a power plant, as well as investments in education and health separate from but complimentary to the states budgetary provisions for the sectors.

I genuinely doubt the crop of politicians we have now can even think of such ideas. They are much myopic to even give them any credit. These kind of Idea shouldn't be out of politics but through groups similar to Ipob (except the secessionist idea)
Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by IGBOSON1:
I also wanted to comment on the recent issue of Sojimoto and the Enugu state gov't...specifically the part where he mentioned the Enugu state governor told him of plans to build a skyscraper in the New Enugu City! Let me just say that the Governor has no business talking to any contractor on this if said contractor is not Julius Berger or CCECC! No other Nigerian based building contractor should be trusted to build such a massive project, as we all have heard of highrise buildings collapsing in Lagos and other parts of the country!

Building a skyscraper needs much more technical ability and experience as well as much more funds compared to building highrises which Sojimoto is known for. He just doesn't have the knowledge or capacity to build a 69 story skyscraper!

A 69 story skyscraper can be said to be a vertical city that would need very deep pilling to secure its foundation! It would also need its own supporting infrastructure and support services, like independent spower supply; independent water supply; independent sewage system; etc! It would also need to be supported by a good transport system, a nearby residential area for workers, and a park residents, workers and visitors can use for recreation, fresh air and activity! So there's much more that comes along with a skyscraper than just what you see on the surface.

Some of the comments you guys make here is just a feel-good kind of post to massage egos not that you truly meant it. Let’s always be realistic in our posts.
I think I understand the idea. For instance if a modern coal fired plant is built in Enugu to power the region then how is that not realistic??

A 69 story skyscraper can be said to be a can be said to be a vertical city that would need very deep pilling to secure its foundation! It would also need its own supporting infrastructure and support services, like independent spower supply; independent water supply; independent sewage system; etc! It would also need to be supported by a good transport system, a nearby residential area for workers, and a park residents, workers and visitors can use for recreation, fresh air and activity! So there's much more that comes along with a skyscraper than just what you see on the surface.
even though sujimoto messed up smart school project, we shouldn't forget they built close to skyscraper of 36 storey building in the past. Everything shouldn't be only for foreign firm. The local firms needs patronage too.

Good. I welcome your idea of building coal to energy infrastructure that will help solve power challenge in southeast. That’s very realistic. But not someone commenting that Igbo states should contribute money to build Enugu new city, how does that even sound and how will it ever gonna be possible for other states to contribute money to build another state?

contribution for Enugu new city should be for Enugu state. But railway, electric infrastructure and major road network should be a collective effort if not it will be business as usual.

Enugu Governor Peter Mbah: A Giant on Social Media, Struggling on Ground Despite ₦1.4 Trillion Inflows

— By Charles Ogbu

I have always argued that most Nigerians do not really know that in order to accurately assess a govt performance, one must take into account how much fund is available to that govt and compare same with the amount of work such a govt has executed. This is the only way to truly determine if the govt is performing or not.

Peter Mbah’s govt thrives on media hype and propaganda with very little substance. Do some roads in the city centre, paint and beautify most of the junctions and roundabouts and announce high-sounding projects like floating an Airline, building smart school in every wards etc. It doesn’t matter if the state does not have something as basic as water. It doesn’t matter if the existing public schools are in sorry state neither does it matter if the average man on the street has become poorer than he ever was as a result of inhuman tax regime.

What is happening in Enugwu state is ASSET STRIPPING. And the people are non the wiser.

For proper context;

Between May 29th, 2023 when governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugwu state came to power till now, September 2025 (2 years and 4 months), his govt has received a total of N923 billion in federal allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) This is according to FAAC reports.

Within the same period under review, the governor has borrowed N96.7 billion in domestic debt increasing the state domestic debt profile from N140.7 billion to N237.4 billion. This is according to the debt management office (DMO)

From May 29, 2023 (his inauguration), to today, September 15, 2025, the state has generated approximately N384.5 billion in IGR.

If you do the maths, the total will come up to over 1.4 trillion naira.

According to the state govt figure, over 384 billion has been spent on EDUCATION. What the govt won’t tell you is that over 80% of this outrageous sum ended up in the pockets of friends and fronts of the administration fraudulently awarded billions in the Smart School contract Largesse without due process. Remember how the Sujimoto guy was awarded over 11 billion with 50% of the sum speedily released to him in violation of the Public Procurement Act which allows for the release of only 30% of the contract sum

Over N53 billion spent from state budgets alone for water revamping through 2025 and this DOES NOT include the $100 million foreign investment. If you add potential overruns, prior-year carryovers, or the full cost of the 2023 scheme, it will push the total higher. Yet, the state water problem still persists.

Spent approximately N114 billion on agriculture with most of the money ending in the pockets of SPVs with very little or no info on the people behind them.

Over 85 billion on health, yet, the state does not have a single standard public health facility.

Over 30 billion on security

Some day, we will talk of the vast quantity of people’s land this govt has cornered in the name of one bogus project or the other which they will later share among themselves. Recall how the governor already acquired 30,000 hectares which accounts for over 4% of the total land mass of the state in the name of ending food insecurity in partnership with that same Sujimoto guy.

Zero accountability. Zero transparency. Zero concern for the actual needs of the common man. Just some elitist jargons aimed at siphoning public fund in an industrial scale. And there is little or no opposition voices. The likes of Frank Nweke Junior has gone comatose.
