Stolen:That one no too concern igbos as far as person know. The Igbos are united, and it is good to be united, so that if sh*t goes left, Igbos will not accidentally fight themselves, or just think their brother suffering is not their problem. |

aribisala0:Why bother responding if you have nothing but conjectural claptrap, revisionism and lies to post!? Is it just because you're obsessed with trying to give the false impression to naive and easily led observers (esp' ndi south-south...awa oyel dem) that Alaigbo is 'just your 5 landlocked states'!? Why are you so invested in trying to limit the territory of Ndigbo? Dude, it's not news that a lot of sub-Igbo groups and other ethnicities in the Niger Delta pre '66 were carping on about 'domination' and surprisingly they're still on it till today even after aligning with outsiders (the hegemonic alliance) to sabotage the secession effort! Their shortsighted efforts was all aimed at trying to impress the ruling hegemony so they could be made the 'dominant' ethnicity/group over the Igbo in the region! Today, and with the benefit of hindsight, their children and grandchildren can see how hasty and shortsighted their decision was to ally with the enemy! Their lands have been polluted, their coasts eroded by the unforgiving Atlantic, and their oyel and gas resources plundered by those who claimed they were coming to 'save them from the 'dominating Igbos'! As their coastal towns are being eroded and falling one by one into the sea, their 'liberators' are using their God-given resources to get on the Forbes richest list and 'conquer' the Atlantic as they sand fill and recover previously eroded parts of their city and build a billion dollar coastal highway to service and improve their regions economy! Meanwhile the naive groups of the Niger Delta still think Igbo, that last produced head of state in 1966, is their problem, and the Igbo amongst them think that by denying their Igboness they can ingratiate themselves with the hegemonic alliance and show they're 'loyal serfs'! You know there's no major ethnicity or grouping in Nigeria that doesn't have at least one sub group within it accusing the other of 'marginalisation', 'domination', and in some extreme cases, attempts at 'annihilation'!? Even within the old Anambra state, there were accusations by one sub Igbo group against another, ditto in Yorubaland/south-west and the Hausa-Fulani/north! So you have no case mate! More so when we realise that the said Willinks Commission you referred to absolved the Igbo of the 'domination' accusation labelled against them at the time! This talk of 'Igbo domination' is laughable because for one, the Igbo never had a empire unlike what we saw with the Oyo empire in Yorubaland and Fulani caliphate in the north. So talk of 'Igbo domination' is a moot subject! Also, you just need to take a look at the economic status of ethnicities or groups in Rivers that accused Ndigbo of 'dominating' them.....more than 65 years after they were 'liberated' from 'Igbo domination and oppression', can they say they are better off than the Igbo today? Whether by individual achievements or the development of villages, towns or cities, can they say their individual or group efforts have shown them to have achieved more than Ndigbo? If the answer is in the negative, then this is just another pointer to the fact that the accusation of 'domination' was false! Sure they're being dominated today, but it's not by Ndigbo! I asked for pictoral or video evidence that the Ikwerre villages used the rumu prefix, BEFORE the Biafra war! I didn't ask for conjectural rubbish, outright lies and tangential claptrap, so spare me the bullshit! Also, provide proof that the Ikwerre categorically denied being Igbo before the Biafra war, not accusations of imagined domination which i told you can be seen in ALL ethnicities and groups in Nigeria even till today! There's this thread on nairaland that i'm searching for in which there was a name tag of a Ikwerre village before the war...i think done by SHELL. They used umu as a prefix, but lo and behold, as i speak with you today, the prefix has been changed to Rumu! The one of Ikwerre forming Ogbakor Ikwerre before '66 is neither here nor there! I can equally mention sub Igbo or sub Yoruba groups that had cultural associations before '66, so i don't get the point you're trying to make! More so as we have all agreed that at the time, the Ikwerre were accusing the larger Igbo ethnic group of marginalising and dominating them in Port Harcourt affairs. So Ogbakor Ikwerre could have arisen as a way for them to speak with one voice and better articulate their position as a group! Fair play to them, but i just want them to know that Igbo is not their problem! |

aribisala0:Listen to the declaration by people themselves Group says indigenous Igbos in Rivers part of Ndigbo ethnic nationality Group says indigenous Igbos in Rivers part of Ndigbo ethnic nationality Exco and Members of Indigenous Igbo Council, Rivers State Shortly after an Emergency Meeting Weekend in Port Harcourt. Photo. Nwankpa Chijioke An Indigenous Igbo Council in Rivers State has faulted claims by Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress that none of the ethnic groups in Rivers is part of the Ndigbo ethnic nationality. The council in a statement issued by its President, Chimenum Amadi shortly after an emergency meeting weekend in Port Harcourt said it is essential to confront the assertions head on with facts grounded in historical and anthropological evidence. He said “The Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress claims that the Igbo are not indigenous to Rivers State, despite evidence showing that the Igbo groups together constitute the largest single majority indigenous ethnic bloc in the State. These claims made by stakeholders of the Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress regarding the ethnic composition of Rivers State are not only misleading but also reveal a dangerous agenda aimed at perpetuating ethnic disunity. It is essential to confront these assertions head-on with clear, factual rebuttals grounded in historical and anthropological evidence. It is misleading for the Rivers Ijaw Congress to define the people of Ikwerre, Etchie, and Ogba—who communicate in a single language and share a unified culture—as different ethnic groups while concurrently categorizing the Ijaw groups of Okrika, Ogbia, and Obolo, who speak entirely different unintelligible languages and have distinct anthropological backgrounds, as a single ethnic unit. “The irony is palpable; it is not only disheartening but also inaccurate to classify the Engenni and Abua people, whose languages relate more closely to those of Isoko of Delta State and Efut of Cross-River State, respectively, as Ijaw meanwhile, the Egbema, Etchie, and Ndoni, who are linguistically homogeneous, are unjustly portrayed as separate. “This inconsistency and selective interpretation of ethnicity exposes the ulterior motives behind such categorization. The attempts to diminish the Igbo identity within Rivers State and portray its people as fragmented serves a specific agenda. The notion implies that these groups should be viewed as separate entities, thus undermining their collective heritage. “The reality, as evidenced through historical documents and reports, particularly the Willinks Commission of Inquiry, illustrates the Indigenous Igbo majority within Rivers State. Attempts at balkanization must be recognized for what they are—strategies designed to fracture solidarity and create divisions where none should exist.” “The entirety of the Igbo nation recognizes Ikwere, Etche, Omuma, Ndoki, Asa, Ogba, Ndoni, Opobo, Ekpeye as part and parcel of the greater Igbo nation. It does not matter which geopolitical space any Igbo group is situated. Igbo is Igbo anywhere State balkanization settles the group. We have noted the calculated efforts to balkanize and sow seeds of disaffection among the Igbo-speaking regions of Rivers State. These actions seem designed to foster animosity toward the South-East and undermine the unity that has historically characterized these communities”. The President further declared, and read resolution reached by members and Supporters of the Indigenous Igbo Council, Rivers state. “The renewed quest to align and identify with our Igbo ancestry is purely borne by natives of Ikwerre, Ogba, Ndoki, Ndoni, Etche, Omuma, Opobo, Ekpeye, Asa. Individuals and people from these territories stemming from historical, anthropological and empirical evidence identify themselves as Igbos. If 11 LGAs who are not mutually intelligible in language can come together to claim Ijaws under Rivers Ijaw Congress, the Igboid ethnic groups who are mutually intelligible in language (Igbo) have come to establish The Indigenous Igbo Council of Rivers State. “Rivers Igbos are the ones agitating and working towards their unity with the greater Igbo nation and not Igbos of the South East. We will continually align with our kits and kins in SE as we owe no one explanation as much as you do not owe us an explanation for identifying with Ijaw. “We will not hesitate to seek for legal redress if the Ijaws continually malign our right to identify with our Igbo ancestry. Ohanézè Ndígbo is a socio-cultural organisation comprising only Igbo-speaking areas, and so its influence transcends the State borders to areas including Rivers State, where the Igbo are Indigenous. The Igbo people of Rivers State, such as Isaac Wonwu, Chibudom Wuche, Ihunwo Obi Wali, Francis Ellah, Joel Kroham, and Emmanuel Aguma, have been instrumental to Ohanézè Ndígbo. “Are the RIPC insinuating that an Egbema man in Imo State is an Igbo man but the Egbema man in Rivers State is a distinct ethnic tribe? This is laughable! The Rivers Ijaw enjoy their affiliation and relationships with their brothers in Bayelsa, Delta and Ondo States. They should also allow the Ikwerre, Etchie, Asa, Ndoni, Ndoki, Egbema, Ogba, Opobo and Ekpeye to enjoy their filial relationship with their brothers in the South East.” He said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/02/group-says-indigenous-igbos-in-rivers-part-of-ndigbo-ethnic-nationality/ The people are openly declaring their ìgbo heritage and you're here telling me rubbish! Do you notice how offended they were for not being classified as igbos? |

aribisala0:Lol... They have already told you who they are, Ikwere, Etche, Ọgba, Ndoni, Ekpeye have all come together to declare their ìgbo heritage, but Yorubas and nairalanders prefer to swim in denial due to malicious intents to sow animosity and division between the Igbo community. That's the same way you people were doing with Asaba people until Ned shut your mouths up. |
