The people of Akwa-Ibom state need to thank God for the kind of Governors God has been giving to them. From Governors Attah to Akpabio to Udom and to Umo Eno, the interest of Akwa-Ibom state has always been their priority over political party. Even political appointees like Umanah Umanah, Ekperikpe Ekpo (Current Minister of Petroleum Resources – Gas) etc have prioritized the state over political party From the Point of Personality & Emotional Intelligence This current Governor, Umo Eno, is the best among all the governors of Akwa-Ibom State (From Governors Attah to Akpabio to Udom to Eno). He has been able to manage all his predecessors. Economic Benefit of his Defection from PDP to APC 1. The Ibom deep sea port started by Akpabio, continued by Udom and this present Governor is yet to get federal government’s political backing to enable it function. It will likely be a threat to Lagos IGR because most of the goods meant for South East and South-South states’ will likely berth at Ibom deep sea port. Akwa-Ibom need to go the extra mile to convince the current president to actualize it. Now that Akwa-Ibom has the number 3 man from the state, it is an opportunity to push for the actualization again. The removal of Former President Jonathan affected Ibom deep sea actualization because Akpabio had already gotten Jonathan’s buy-in before 2015, when he was still Governor, to actualize it. Both Akpabio and Jonathan were in PDP then. 2. As the number 3 man and as a high-ranking member of the APC, Akpabio was able to ensure that the headquarters of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) is sited in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state, since NDDC is already sited in Port-harcourt, Rivers State. The government and people of Akwa-Ibom State stand to benefit from SSDC’s taxes, rent payment from the use of Akwa-Ibom state 21-storey smart building as the current office, job creation etc. Under Buhari, when universities of science and technology were to be sited at each of the geopolitical regions, that of south-south was sited in Ikot-Abasi, Akwa-Ibom state when Akpabio was Minister Political Reasons 1. The governor knows that Akpabio is determined to return as senate president in 2027. He can only achieve that if he delivers Akwa-Ibom to the APC. If he doesn’t and Oshomole delivers Edo to APC, Umahi contest again for senate and delivers Ebonyi to APC, Akpabio may likely not get the SP role in 2027. As such he will be desperate to deliver Akwa-Ibom to APC by all means (We all know how they can do it and tell you to go to court). To be in safe hands and avoid that threat, decamping is better for him 2. Also, with Wike still in PDP, PDP may likely not have a candidate through the courts. There will likely be parallel primaries. To avoid similar issues like that of Zamfara state, Plateau state and the likes, it is safer for the governor to decamp to avoid that risk 3. From the point of loyalty to his political party, the defection may not be right. Though, considering the fact that Atiku decamped to APC to prevent a South-south son (Jonathan) from continuing as president and to install his fellow northern brother that is not a PDP member as president, I think the game plan is that same Atiku should not be allowed to repeat same to another southerner. Southern governors may have decided to pay Atiku back (Law of Kama) Lots of southerners are saying that from 1960 to 2025, Northerners have ruled Nigeria for more years than Southerners and that Northern Senators and HOR members have refused the bill meant to rotate the presidency between North and south for 8 years each |

It is now very disturbing and slstking that the nation is gradually going into a one party system. While i've been a staunch supporter of the president, I am very much against the idea of having one political party running the nation has this may be a direct attack to our freedom of speech and our rights to ask for good governance. The major problem is not from the ruling party, but the slowpoke bigwigs who are in the opposition parties but can't stand to face the ruling party like we witnessed in 2013 through to 2015. It's alarming and saddening, but what do I know. |

WizardOfNG:And you that's from akwa ibom actually think all this carpet crossing happening here and there is good for our democracy? |
| Re: 2027: I Have No Apologies – Governor Umo Eno Endorses Tinubu For Second Term by WizardOfNG: 10:06pm On Jun 07, 2025 |
bhest:I am not from Akwa Ibom but a supporter of what is good for Nigeria and Nigerians. There is a saying attributed wrongly to Harriet Taubman, the famous slavery abolitionist, shown below. 2027 is a fight between those who wish to keep Nigerians enslaved, because they wish to perpetuate the subsidy-driven pauperisation of generations of Nigerians who cannot ever know they are slaves in their own nation in comparison to others, and PBAT who has been brave and uncompromising bullying through essential reforms that must not be put off for even a second longer if Nigeria is to rescued and renewed. Essential and nationally transformational reforms several Presidents before him avoided ,because they know it will make them electorally unpopular, Tinubu is bravely and uncompromisingly delivering knowing Nigerians may hate him for today yet their children and generations unborn will thank him for his action when they move towards citizens of first world Nations (USA, UK, Japan, Germany, France etal) in terms of standards of living. Why will the likes of Eno not get behind such a President unlike you who, because you don't know better, ignorantly thinks the life you lived under Buhari and other before him must be preserved as you don't understand it is one of the worst existence know to man in our entire universe. As your weekend case study, why don't you find out how many nations pay lower than Nigeria's pump price for petrol at the rate we do today while your ilk think we should still be paying 185 Naira per litre that was unsustainably bankrupting Nigeria and literally killing our nation to then condemn us to the sad fate of never joining the League of developed nations? Ditto same nonsense of fooling ourselves with subsidy on higher education that sees students paying the equivalent of a decent pair of designer shoes for a years University tuition fee that then sees massive under-investment in our education system that delivers very poor quality education which means our 'graduate' civil Engineers cannot even handle building a mile long bridge across a river in Nigeria let alone be in demand to build such in other African nations talk less of the West. Are you happy we are a nation cut of from the developed world because a pauperised subsidy regime, government after government has sustained as weaponised poverty to keep Nigerians down and themselves in power, has transformed our people, in the North for example, as those with the worst human development index on Earth? Even Kenyans and Ghanaians will be handling civil engineering project in Nigeria soon the way they are going and the way people like you wish us to continue. When will you people ever stop being petty, myopic and hateful?

WizardOfNG:Oga the all knowing, I salute! To start with, All this your epistle is yours personal believe, right and opinions just as others is entitled to theirs. That's all democracy is all about, don't let your actions and inactions erodes others rights and opinions or force yours on 'em. Don't turn Nigeria to a one party nation, leave people with viable options, that's all I am saying. #peace |
| Re: 2027: I Have No Apologies – Governor Umo Eno Endorses Tinubu For Second Term by WizardOfNG: 11:13am On Jun 08, 2025 |
bhest:What am I forcing on anyone? Secondly, how is it up to me and you is Nigeria becomes a one-Party nation? You guys preach about fairness and "leave people with viable options" yet are you not encroaching on the right of politicians to choose which Party they join or leave just so you and other Nigerians are happy? The actual politicians nko? Are they not entitled to defect if they wish? They should remain in a Party they are unhappy in or have become disillusioned with to please you? You see now that you are not truly democratic as you preach others should be? Bruv, in life, always try to put yourself in the shoes of others. Very important. If you were a politician you'd be fighting for your right to defect if the Party you are in becomes too difficult for you to bear or is not the right platform to use in doing your best for your people. Eno spoke eloquently and logically about this per why he is defecting. He cited how Tinubu has done well and bravely removed subsidy, as others before him couls not do, to provide more money for Governor to revitalise States etc. He praised the many federal infrastructure projects ongoing and stated specifically that he wants to work closely with such a President for the benefit of Akwa Ibom. Yet you guys, who are not Governors and do not know their challenges and aspirations, are not happy. You all continue to speak as if an person must remain in an unhappy marriages to please his family and friend. Crystal clear this is not about "one Party State" or democracy and more about Tinubu not continuing in 2027 for most of you. |

WizardOfNG:The problem with your kind is you always fail to look at issues from others perspective, thinking you're all knowing. you keep blabbing about how tinubu is the only president that has balls to remove the fuel subsidy previous ones there not. Educate yourself about the role he played the protests that made Jonathan regime reverse it. To me this policy you're saying we should idolize him for only takes a person to be heartless and clueless to remove such without necessary working measures in place to cub its effects not like they could not give the order. Bros people are dieing in droves cause they couldn't afford basic needs and healthcare, keep reading statistics while you shut out of reality. Now take a look at wike and his likes, there efforts to not make opposition work, you must be cunny to be a politician in this side of the world would be your defense I bet. And lastly nobody is saying anyone should not do as they like but they should let where they left thrive, defect and leave that ladder for others to use it not destroy it with ur actions. Perhaps, since na wetin you won hear! you actually sounding like your candidate is not actually sellable that's why they trying to kill oppositions by all means before election, making emselves the only option instead of telling people why they should re-elect em. |
