Sp33i:You can. |

yemmit90:Since you farmed turkeys in large qty last year, I like to find out how cam one sell turkeys effectively when breeding them in 100s |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 1:03pm On Jun 08, 2025 |
Mary95:Okay. Maybe I will eventually resort to that. How did you manage them from insects amd all farming beans during the rainy seasons ? |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by yemmit90: 2:03pm On Jun 08, 2025 |
Sp33i:I didn't farm turkey in large quantities last year but about 3 years ago. If you are doing mature turkeys, it is much better to target Christmas/new year and Muslim fasting festival. Those are the two periods that mature turkey moves fast. If you are doing growers, it is better you focus between November- August. Turkey growers move faster during this period. The best place to sell your turkey during festive period is social medias, particularly Facebook. Join poultry and other agriculture groups. |

Sp33i:I used combat,Lara force if there is any attack on the stem/leave. The rain affected the first set but the second sets are doing well with rain now. I have harvested the first set. This is the early beans . I have dried most now. We have sunny days interval, I make sure I stay put at home and monitor the drying. Rain doesn’t fall everyday. |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 7:20pm On Jun 08, 2025 |
Mary95:Okay. You do not leave them dried. You harvest greens then sun dry them like cassava is put under sun. Nice idea. I will be planting beans in the next 15 days |

| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by billyG(m): 1:27pm On Jun 11, 2025 |
Sp33i:Only rain can pfuck one up |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 11:29am On Jun 12, 2025 |
billyG:It doesnt work this way. We farmers have a rainfall calendar where we predict with high accuracy on rain when starts, pauses and ends |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by saysoo: 6:06pm On Jun 12, 2025 |
Sp33i:With the current delayed rain, can you help predict effects on harvest this year? Some farmers have not planted corn till this day but some have planted. |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 9:03pm On Jun 12, 2025 |
saysoo:It depends on the part of the country you are talking about. Every farmer across various states i know have cultivated maize and have stopped. I have cultivated three maize farms and setting up 3 more maize farms next week. In the past five days, it has rained non-stop for five days here in Ogun State. My maize plants are currently 25 Days old whereas people who started earlier have theirs at 48 days old and doing fine. What state are you talking about !? |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 11:16am On Jun 13, 2025 |
It's 25 days today and the farms are weed free. I hired labour with affordable rates to weed out the little weeds that the herbicides didnt take out. So far, it's an enjoyable journey So far, less than 2% weeds Please tell me my fields look clean. I'd appreciate it.

Sp33i:Kano, Katsina, zamfara mostly northern states. Even in Delta the rains barely comes. |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 12:03pm On Jun 13, 2025 |
saysoo:I am shocked to hear this. A while Delta that is a coastal state. Anyways, if the weather is different, it doesnt mean you guys wont experience rainfall. Perhaps your pen rains would begin to be consistent and heavy from June ending, but it will certainly come. Now concerning yield, if a farmer uses specialized hybrid and not local seeds, yield may drop by up to 40% if the lack of rain is moderate, even with this figure, a farmer will be profitable. |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by saysoo: 12:10pm On Jun 13, 2025 |
Sp33i:OK thanks. Just that some farm activities are starting in June when it should have been May. Hope we have good harvest like last year. |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by Sp33i(op): 12:27pm On Jun 13, 2025 |
saysoo:I find this strange. Focus on shorter duration seeds to be extra sure. Please keep me updated on the weather issue. Because if he rain starts June, does this mean there wont be August break ? I would really like to know |
| Re: My Maize Farm - Six Acres by saysoo: 12:42pm On Jun 13, 2025 |
Sp33i:NIMET made this information available in march, I thought it was a joke. There will also be a dry weather of around 21 days by their report from August. Having space rain and late from June. What then will happen from Sept/Oct harvest barring irrigation. |

saysoo:Chai! This is a catastrophe I hope you are able to adapt and integrate well with this year rainfall changes |

@this is about 2 years ago when I harvested maize on my 1 acre land but looks like my own maize are small. They didn’t come out big. I plant maize and cassava then. Right now there is cassava on the land and it will harvest this month. I mother do the work. I was serving (Nysc). Now I’m done and if she harvest the cassava this month can I still plant maize on the same land. Will I get a good result or I should the soil to recover. I’m in Ogun state. This is the picture for the two years ago maize. Sp33i:

Sp33i:Your farm looks clean. Construct a stirrup hoe, put a single wheel to it and weed faster. You employ fewer workers and use lesser time to weed off. My olodo opinion |
