seborrhic:
Stop typing rubbish.
Nothing can compare to electricity from the power grid, financially, functionally and efficiency wise.
There are lots of things your solar cannot do,unless your energy consumption is for light and small appliances.
Even when the inverter breaks down, changing it imvolves a big outlay, unlike electricity where you pay on a monthly basis.
They should just give everybody prepaid metre with regular supply, then nigerians will learn how to manage their units to reduce the financial burden.
It's only very big industries like Dangote,PZ,flour mills etc, that can afford to generate sufficient power from high MW yielding sources that can conveniently do without the National power grid.
Solar panels on household scale cannot be a stand alone, even if you like spend 30m.
Don't say what you don't know. People use solar offgrid. Even in the US or deveped countries where there's an abundance of electricity, people still move offgrid. Don't use u or ur neighbor who's using a 500w panel on a 24v system as a yardstick for solar users.

Dalohad:
People are dumping DISCOs and installing Solar.

My village was without light for 5 years. I spent N5 million installing solar in my house in the village and gave the DISCOs a middle finger.

I will be spending N15 million this year to have my office go off-grid.

In the next 20 years, DISCOS will struggle to stay afloat, more people will dump them, and they will increase bills, layoff staffs and reduce power distribution to stay afloat.

Those who still patronize them will pay the fee of those who have dumped them to go off-grid.

Write these words on stone for future reference.
then get ready to be taxed, besides how many people have million talkles of 15 million, but I know you are lying sha.

The staggering ₦202 billion revenue shortfall recorded by Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies in Q1 2025—despite a massive 106% hike in billing—is nothing short of a national disgrace. This is the clearest evidence yet of a broken, exploitative, and grossly inefficient system. DisCos continue to charge Nigerians exorbitantly for power they neither supply reliably nor meter accurately. Unmetered billing, load rejection, and decaying infrastructure have become the norm, while critical investment is nonexistent. Nigerians are being punished for the incompetence of private firms that have failed in their obligations. This daylight extortion must end. We demand urgent reforms, full metering, accountability, and consistent power delivery—not more bills for darkness.
