"Once the ransom was paid, the kidnappers directed the family to where they would find him, only for them to meet his (Ajayi’s) lifeless body.”

And when these terrorists are arrested, the government would reintegrate them into the society and tag them repentant bandits and Bokoharam..

What's wrong with Nigeria??
What is wrong with Nigeria is structure. What is wrong with Nigerians is gross ignorance and incompetence.

The structure of internal security has not changed from colonial times when the police served the government as a tool of control and coercion. That also served the various military dictatorships hence the structure was retained.

Ordinarily one would expect that with the return of democracy in 1999 the Constitution will hand over the powers of internal security and policing to the people, to serve them and their interests as in all other civilised climes. But no.

Each successive so called democratically elected government has become even more dictatorial than the previous and with it the police has lost its essence, respect, responsibility and function.

Nigeria and Nigerians have never been this
insecure since the civil war. So to get it right Nigerians have to demand for the same structures and standards of policing they see working properly in other climes or they will just be toying with their life expectancy.

There's a permanent solution to this problem of kidnapping for ransom in Nigeria if federal government can do what is necessary.
The Federal government cannot do anything about kidnapping in Nigeria so get that straight.

Kidnapping is a crime of opportunity so it can happen anywhere and the federal government simply does not have the resources to cover all bases.

Kidnapping is also a crime of the clock meaning that it is over in seconds and minutes. Much faster than the federal government can respond.

So expecting the federal government to secure Nigeria from thousands of types of criminality involving millions of Nigerians daily is like the folly of using chicken wire mesh to prevent mosquitoes.

I have said it before. The US State of California alone has more law enforcement officers than the entire US Federal government has FBI agents and officers. There is a reason why it has become so. The consequent demand of the people of that state to have security over and beyond what Uncle Sam can afford.

The Nigerian Federal government cannot secure Nigeria to any acceptable level of decency. It just cannot.

Some people still support Tinubu despite his incompetence, under the illusion that the repercussions of his mismanagement of Nigeria will not affect them.
Eventually, reality will prove otherwise.

Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained why he delegated some members of the party to respond to questions posed to him.
According to the former Lagos Governor, he adopted the delegation method “to show team-ship”.

Tinubu spoke at the Chatham House lecture titled: ‘Nigeria’s 2023 elections: In conversation with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’, monitored by The Nation.

At the lecture, Tinubu after his opening remarks, assigned Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai to speak on how his (Tinubu-led) government would address insecurity and asked the Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Aleke, to respond to the question on oil theft.

Hmmm....paying N10 million. I'm thinking... he was kidnapped ...the family had N10M ... the kidnappers were asking for 50. What if the family advertised N8M Reward for whoever can return the victim and give information that can lead to the arrest of the kidnappers. A kidnapper would be granted immunity if he chooses to make a report.

If you were one of the kidnappers...what would you have done? I

Oga with proper intelligence gathering, these kidnappers can be nipped in the bud they don't live under water nor in the rocks. Nigeria lacks the needed security architecture and the bulk of the blame goes to the Fed Gov because security falls under exclusive list. If they can't handle it then let them decentralize security.

Make it unlawful for any individual to possess more than #100k ( or at most #500k) in cash.
Business Transactions of large amounts should be only by bank transfers only.

Let anyone come and explain to me why he/she needs #500k in cash for.

We've not seen enough cassava and palm oil to eat , you are talking of exporting. This would make the price of garri and palm oil go above the reach of the common man. You export the excess when you've been able to feed yourself, that's my thought, though.

This man was kidnapped in his house. Perhaps, you should add "make sure you sleep in your state's government house" or "build your house inside a military barracks."

Instead of you people to hit the street with aggressive force and completely shut down the country for 260 days, una go dey prescribe paracetamol for cancer. Freedom is not given anywhere in the world. It is taken by force. Even in the kingdom of darkness, you don't beg for anything. You go forcefully to take what belongs to you. The countries that prescribe the useless democracy to you people still go out there with full force to demand what is rightfully theirs.

But una go sit down for house dey type plenty grammar. Have you seen anti-Trump protests lately? What about the protest in South Korea? If citizens of the first world countries can leave their well paid jobs to protest, then we are probably under a spell to think the unrepentant satanists in government will do any meaningful thing without a destructive revolution.

Endsars was the closest thing we had to getting something for the first time in our history, but you people allowed pkonu criminals and satanic tribal idols to gaslight you people.

Sorry I'm using "you people" instead of "we". Although I'm in Nigeria, I no longer see myself as a Nigerian 😂 I chose this mindset for my peace of mind since everybody has chosen the disgraceful and embarrassing "no be my head o" national attitude. Trust me, Nigerians have become a shameless, disgraceful entities as far as the human race is concerned. Good thing, some African countries no longer look up to this shameless giant of corruption for anything. For how long will you people continue to prescribe "agbo jedi" for cancer? Chai what a pity!

They don't care because Nigerians don't care either. Insecurity will end the day Nigerians decide to hit the street. But they would never do that as long as their most favourite ethnic criminal is in power. Not less than 5 APC leaders have been kidnapped in just 2 years, some even died while hustling for bags of rice, but do they care? Their paid heartless bots on Nairaland do not care about any living thing, including the people in their party.
