President Donald Trump ordered active-duty US Marines and 2,000 more National Guard troops into Los Angeles late on Monday, vowing those protesting immigration arrests would be "hit harder" than ever.

Trump's extraordinary mobilisation of 700 full-time professional military personnel - and thousands of National Guard troops - came on the fourth day of street protests triggered by dozens of immigration arrests in a city with huge foreign-born and Latino populations.

California Governor Gavin Newsom slammed the move, posting on X that US Marines "shouldn't be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfill the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President. This is un-American."

If you enter illegally (crossing the border unlawfully), you’re a criminal under 8 U.S. Code § 1325. Period.
If you overstay a visa, you violate 8 U.S. Code § 1227, also illegal. Calling it ‘undocumented’ doesn’t change that.

TPS isn’t a free pass.

Why should the US be forced to house foreign nationals indefinitely?

Asylum loopholes, most times = fraud. A huge percent of asylum claims are denied because most migrants aren’t real refugees, they’re economic migrants gaming the system.

TPS (Temporary Protected Status) is exactly that, temporary. It’s for crises like earthquakes or wars, nota free pass for permanent residency .

Whether someone came under TPS, parole, or asylum, they still entered illegally or overstayed a visa. Why's that so hard to understand?
