We have the biggest scam as minister in the FCT. I have lived in the FCT for more than 2 decades, we have never had it so bad. Schools have been on strike for three months now. In this administration, teachers have gone to strike more than 7 times within 2 years. Hospitals in FCT are in comatose state. No MRI machines, or CT Scan machine in the whole FCT hospitals. No resident doctors for two years now. If you come to hospital later than 6:00 am in the morning, you will be turned back home because of inability of Wike to employ teaming number of doctors applying each day. His priority is to waste billions building vice president lodge, judges quarters, international conference center, scrapping and repainting of roads in the city center. Go to most settelite towns . Their is total government absence. The FCT have never had it so bad |

Freshwhyte:Renovations especially superficial ones should not always be counted as major achievements. Changing wall paint, decor, or aesthetic elements is more of routine upkeep than a transformational accomplishment. Just like repainting a personal car isn’t a reason to throw a party, basic renovations shouldn’t be overly celebrated unless they significantly improve function, safety, or value. The focus should be on real impact, not cosmetic changes. |

objobj:France really? That's the example you are using? What about the Notre Dame Cathedral after a fire partially destroyed it. You can commission and recommission anything so long as the value add is significant enough. Did somebody not say he did not build newschools and hospitals but rather he revamped them? Let's be consistent. |

The building was closed from use for repairs before now. After repairs, it has to be commissioned. That is authorized to be put into use. Anyone can be invited by the FCTA authorities to commission it. Nowhere is it stated that the president cannot be that person. |

Freshwhyte:The International Conference Centre in Abuja had to be gentrified after many years of being originally built. |
| Re: President Tinubu Set To Commission International Conference Centre In Abuja by Konquest: 8:00am On Jun 12, 2025 |
femi4:An already existing building such as the ICC in the FCT can indeed be commissioned (and/or recommissioned) after undergoing renovation. It's basic English language. Areas or locations that undergo "gentrification" worldwide can indeed be commissioned. |

naptu2:Very succinct. I remember the 1991 OAU Summit which took place in the FCT just as if it happened yesterday. On the other hand, Nigerians have to develop a strong culture of facilities management in order to minimize the cost of maintenance of public and private infrastructure. |

Konquest:The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said that they attended the opening of the ECOWAS Parliament at the center last year and the place was in a terrible state. He said that President Tinubu turned to him and asked why the place was like that. It was dirty and in a dilapidated state. President Tinubu told him that the center should represent us, but that it did not represent who we are as Nigerians (President Tinubu later corroborated what Wike said). Wike said that he apologised to the President and told him to bear with them, that the center would be rehabilitated within a year. He said that the contract for the maintenance of the center had been given to a politician by previous governments. He revoked the contract, but the politician sued the government. President Tinubu thanked Wike for completing the job in less than a year. Wike said that he recommended that the center should be named after Tinubu because the renovation was inspired by Tinubu. Wike declared that henceforth, anybody that wants to use the center must pay for it, because that's the money that will be used to maintain it. President Tinubu echoed his statement. |
