I really appreciate your feedback and guidance, thanks a lot. Telling me the reality is also very much appreciated, because even if it's difficult, it will be more beneficial to me in the long run, instead of sugarcoating it.

I am 26 yrs old.

My desire is to switch to the STEM field or a technical course like you suggested. I researched and realized that most in demand jobs abroad are in the STEM field and hands-on-trade like you said. They also pay higher.

I believe the post graduate study abroad must be in the same Public Administration field. So how and when do I switch to the STEM or technical field abroad.

Can I do the one-year post graduate diploma abroad without furthering to Masters? Also I hope to do a one year program instead of another undergraduate program because I cannot afford the tuition fee of a three to four years undergraduate course abroad. So what should I do.

What do you suggest?
Firstly, I want to ask: what was your initial plan and thought when you applied for the Canadian visit visa? you plan relocating to canada on visit visa?

Also, are you aware of the Express Entry program? I personally know people who have similar qualifications—just an OND/HND, under the age of 28, with strong IELTS scores—who successfully moved to Canada as permanent residents through that pathway.

I just want to remind you that education in Canada is very expensive. The idea of “work and study” is often a misconception. In reality, it is extremely difficult to cover tuition fees and living expenses while studying without external support . I noticed you’re considering a Master’s program, but it seems like you haven’t fully thought through the financial implications yet.

Please, take your time and do proper research before applying for any visa. I also saw you’re active on UK forums. Just so you know, the world is moving beyond the mindset of “just get a visa.” You need a long-term, sustainable plan.

Some students are currently stranded in the UK and Canada. Things are not as rosy as many make them seem. A lot of people hide their struggles. That’s why it’s so important to plan wisely and realistically.

Since we’re in Canada study thread, I’ll share what I know. Please, anyone can add their advice, and you can decide for yourself which one you’d like to follow.

My small piece of advice is to do a 2-year postgraduate study in Canada, so that you’ll be eligible for a 3-year Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) after 2 years of school.

With that 3-year work permit, you’ll have time to figure things out—PR pathway, job opportunities, and how to start your life here.

Now, as for which 2-year course to choose, that’s up to you. You know yourself and your strengths better than anyone else. But make sure your course is eligible for PGWP after graduation.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/after-graduation/eligibility.html

and yes make sure any school you select in Canada is on the Designated learning institutions list

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

Public Administration long term in the abroad will not work
Alright thanks for your feedback. Can I choose another course for the post graduate study?

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate

I thought a lot and did so many research, before I decided to bring it to this platform. My plan was if the visit visa was approved, I will weigh my options and see what I can do with it when I get there, unfortunately it was not approved.

I also understand the risk associated with migrating with visit visa but I had to try first.

I’ve heard about the Express entry but I thought it is a pathway for only highly skilled workers.

Can you please explain how I can go about the Express entry program. I have HND in Public Admin.

Hello people.

For those who applied for a visit visa, has anyone received a response recently? Curious to know if May applications are being attended to now.

Please share your timelines to encourage us all.

Yes, you can — all you need is a school to give you admission. You’ll have to convince the school that you have a background in Public Administration but want to switch to STEM. That’s going to be hard, but hey, there’s no harm in trying.

Now, that’s on you. Also, remember that studying in Canada isn’t cheap. It will cost you a minimum of around $15,000 CAD per year, and you cannot work to pay your fees.

Permanent residency (PR) is not guaranteed after school, and jobs are not that easy to come by. I guess that’s the case everywhere in the Western world. But hey, don’t give up — just be aware of the facts so you won’t end up like Badadvisor.

At 26, age isn’t exactly on your side, but if you have the money and financial backing, why not? However, if you don’t have savings or a sponsor with at least $60,000 CAD, don’t try studying in Canada — just my honest opinion.

May application should take a month for a reply or so. Someone submitted early May and biometric request was sent Early June. So patience is what you will have.

Indeed, lol.

I thought having a US visa would shorten the timeline.

Thank you!

Do you mean a passport request letter?

An applicant should get a biometrics instruction letter a few hours after the application is submitted.

For me, I live in a flat, so I wrote the flat number there, for example, Apt 2A. Then, on the next line, you place the street number and name, and continue.

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by emmy6k(m): 7:44am On Jun 19, 2025
Good morning all.
Please I have a question that is bothering me, I made use of an agent regarding my application. Sometime October 2023, the first application was refused in July 2024 after which my agent requested for some documents like landed property, police character, statement of my account and reapplication fee to reapply. I provided all the listed documents in October 2024, after then it becomes series of stories. Fast forward to January 2024, i recieve reapplication print out from him around end of January 2025 with form dated 30th of January from that time uptill this moment I'm yet to get any update from him regarding my application. Whenever I call him, he keeps saying there's no response yet from IRCC. Please what do you think about this? Because I'm being confused about the whole thing
