I am about to purchase a new ride, Honda civic 2008 here in Lagos, however the car seems too good to be true. I heard cars are now retailing for 8million or there about, is 3m too good to be true for a 2008 Honda civic naija used?? Also what are the red flags to look out for? I drove the car everything seems clean. There's another alternative which is another civic from a different seller going for 2m but the owner said engine is smoking and I may have to change it and then it has bad, not too clean exterior but the interior is super clean. If you were me, which is better? Fix and repair the bad one at 2m, I did my calculations with about 1m it should be back to my taste, Or just go for this 3.1m Honda civic that was repainted and I need to fill gas The bad one with the smoking engine, the ac still works, very cold. The one with the clean 2nd or 3rd body does not work, seller says I just need to top the gas. I am really confused right now. Another alternative will be to go for Honda DC. The ones I've checked so far, the prices range from 2.7m to 3.8m for naija used. By the way my source of searching is jiji. This will be my second car, I presently drive a Nissan which is about to kill me |

2cribz:just imagine the kind of cars you are recommending to someone eyeing a civic. You can instead advice the person to increase their budget or better still look for clean naija used. From civic to micra? Bros fear God o. Op I will advise you don't go after either. The topping of gas na popular street slang. Kindly look for a direct seller not those jiji sellers of vehicles, na rubbish many done package wait intending buyers. Some are even stolen o, so be careful there. Redflags: 1. If the plate number is covered - Runnnnnn 2. If the owner says he sold that particular one but is now offering you another one - Runnnn 3. If the papers are not complete - Runnnn 4. If the colour differs from the particulars, runnnn, most times it's stolen. 5. If them wan top gas - runnn, to top gas nor pass 10k max why has the owner not done so since, this will even add more value to the said car. 6. If the owner just sprayed it - runn, they are trying to blind your mind from seeing the faults beyond the beautiful outward state of the car. Try to check for ads from people with old accounts but with fewer ads unrelated to cars, those are direct owners. Go with your mechanic o 3m is a reasonable price for a Nigerian used civic 2006 - 2011 in my own opinion. A friend got one (civic 2008) for 3.2m last month, super nice car, in an out clean, owner got a new ride hence he wanted to sell this one off. |

tundeayo2020:A Honda civic for 3m shouldn’t be that bad if it has been properly maintained. Just make sure you get someone to check the car before purchasing. Secondly, the civic worth 2m sure might seem like a good deal, but also consider the fact you said it’ll need body works, a car with a bad engine but good body would be a good buy but one with a bad body might take a lot to make it look appealing, truth is, you might not get that car looking good especially if it has been painted severally of there are signs of body fillers. I’m talking from my own little experience. |

I got my Honda civic 2007 model for about 85000 dalasi in the Gambia .. ended up fixing what needed to be fixed with 15000 dalasi .. Alternator Fuel pump. Did the normal servicing . Ac doesn’t work tho gas needs refilling.. You can’t go wrong with the civic model as long as the car drives and the gear changes perfectly any other thing to fix won’t break your bank trust me .. the Honda civic is as good as the Corolla .. make sure you buy a car with a good engine bro with good gear.

If I were you, OP, I would go for the 2m civic. Buy= a direct tokunbo engine and fix on it. Then take it to panel beater to paint it. Since you confirmed the gear is okay and AC works. It's a better deal that the AC needs topping own. Anytime you hear AC needs topping, better run, because you may end up changing all the entire AC components. In case you don't know, AC system is a closed system. Your AC gas shouldn't need topping unless there's a leak. I drove a car from 2019 till I sold it last month. And I didn't top off AC gas for a day. And I drove every single day with AC as I cannot really drive a car without AC. Unless you don't really care about AC unlike me, you can then go for the 3m own. But if I were you, I'd go for the 2m own, buy a direct tokunbo engine. Paint and enjoy. Provided every other thing is okay like gear and interior. |

Thanks to everyone's input, I finally settled for a Honda accord 2010, bought it last week, very sweet ride at 4.7m in Abuja. So far, it's been a fantastic ride. The car is super smooth and sweet to drive, you could mistake it for a direct toks, it has a mileage of 84k I just added cash to get something good that isn't too oldskool. I hate Toyota cars in general for their bland designs |
