Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman stepped into the Octagon after a 20-month hiatus, headlining UFC Atlanta and defeating surging contender Joaquin Buckley.

The 38yo who lost his title to Leon Edwards and later Khamzat Chimaev was attempting a return to a title shot after undergoing multiple meniscus knee surgeries over the years.

The Nigerian Nightmare won via unanimous decision

Usman had the support of Davido & Francis Ngannou.

Boxing legend, Evander Holyfield was also backstage for the Boogeyman.

Ngannou walked Usman out to the ceremonials earlier...

Kamaru is the best African UFC fighter. He is very technical and skillful and deserves having one of the longest unbeaten runs in the UFC welterweight decision. Last 2 years had Leon Edwards at his best and fighting Chimaev the ultimate grappler was not too easy. But he's still got it. Maybe he'll fight Belal the Palestine guy next. They got beef.

That's the best thing he could do against a big puncher but if he fights a puncher who can defend take downs, it's going to be a long night for him.
