This is so satisfying. Thank you so profoundly for this historical update. However, the Evangelical Church of West Africa officially changed its name to Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in 2011 and not 2004 as stated in the cover note to these photos. This change reflected the denomination's broader mission and vision beyond West Africa, emphasizing its commitment to evangelism and global outreach. This historic update is one that every son and daughter of ECWA will find significant. I am particularly moved by the sentiments expressed in the comment section regarding our denomination. They are a powerful reflection of our shared heritage. Truly, we have been entrusted with a noble legacy. I grew up going to this Church, in fact it was our family Church, This is one Church I know that I didn't experience tribalism(not saying there are no other Churches that also do), the Church was like one big family, and the love they showed to us when my dad passed on was amazing. 41 Likes 2 Shares |

I deeply appreciate this church, firmly grounded in biblical principles. Their unity is truly remarkable, and what I cherish most is their women's fellowship, known in Hausa as Zumunta Mata. These women form my most treasured Christian association, dedicated, compassionate, and vibrant singers their energy is spirit lifting. I believe Catholic churches in northern Nigeria adopted the Zumunta Mata fellowship from ECWA, and they have been thriving with it as well. 26 Likes 3 Shares |

I love ECWA. I just wish they pray more. Sometimes they behave like Muslims or core orthodox churches...arrogating trials that can be quenched through the art of fervent prayers to "an act of God." Meanwhile, God bless ECWA and the leadership worldwide. 5 Likes |

The church is more common in the north/middle belt. It was even in the Abuja/nasarawa side I first noticed the church. Same with COCIN church. When I first heard it I thought it was cooking, till I was told the full meaning is Church of Christ in Nigeria. 9 Likes |

I can attest to it that the church is a good one. They are mostly in northern Nigeria. 1. Doctrinally safe and Balanced 2. Their mission into the interior villages is top notch. 3. Strong emphasis on Bible Studies 4. Disciplined on the average. Few reports of Pastors dating or impregnating church members and so with members However, this I think is their problem. 1. Great, nostalgic pictures of a bygone era. Looks like early 70s and ordinary Nigerians could afford Japanese Honda motorcycles. Minimum wage could have been N70 and the bike cost N350. Therefore with careful planning and available hire purchase facility, you could get one and pay over 2 years.
