The rate of corruption in Nigeria is at an all time high. More than before, politicians brazenly flaunt questionable wealth in the face of severe poverty Nigerians have been thrown into.

More worrisome is the fact that Religious leaders who are perceived as symbol of positive change have remained silent and even sometimes mingle with these corrupt individuals.

This question has been of concern to me. I am a Christian and it breaks my heart that we have revered pastors like Pastor Adeboye, Kumuyi et al, whose silence is more deafening in a country where poverty is rendering it's people handicap not because we lack resources (both human and material) but because of dearth of true leaders.

Could it be their devotion to Spiritual matters, theology of devotion to authority, fear of reprisal, avoiding controversy?

The fact is that if the politicians are doing their jobs perfectly without being corrupt and prejudiced, all those religious leaders will be useless.

If the roads are good and well maintained, the roads rules and safety enforced, tell me how accidents won’t be reduced.

Majority of the religious leaders are relevant because of the shortcomings of the political leaders

Also, if you are a pastor, you want to build a large church. You requested for donations of 1 billion nairaland. I donate 1 billion or more. Will you have the guts to criticize me if I'm in government? After collecting such a huge amount?

Don't you know that the Religious leaders work hand in hand with the politicians and also help them launder their loots abroad...?

Same template with the colonial masters, the Religious leaders act as pacifiers, pacifying folks every Sunday and Friday after the politicians have finished dealing with them during the week to avoid any uprising...

This is serious!

The teaching on long-suffering in church these days irks me. More like an open insult to the entire populace. Tell me which type of long suffering Nigerians haven't endured since 1999.

Sometimes I wonder maybe what they tell these politicians is if they give the pastor money anyway pray for them their sins will be forgiven. And the cycle continues, steal, give pastor cut, pastor prays, God forgives.

But RCCG is not the only religious organization in the country; there are others as well, such as the Catholic and Anglican churches, and they should not remain silent either.

They simply can't call the politicians to order because the drink and wine with those evil politicians.

Can't u see what happened during the time of Elrufai in Kaduna state,while he was busy decimating Christians,Adeboye's son was in Kaduna state for road contract making them to be mute in all the atrocities Elrufai committed in southern Kaduna.

Pastors and imams are the most corrupt people in Nigeria.

Very evil men,who only hide under the guise of being holy...but evil behind the scene but few.

If u are into business,pls don't accept a pastor,imam or alfar or even a priest as a guarantor...u would see the evil in them afterwards.

It's the Protestants that find it hard to talk.

Deceivers of themselves they are and have been blind folded by the ruler of this world.

How would they even know they have been justified when they have never experienced the real thing.

The only pastors I can rate are those who don't mix with politics n those who have never campaigned for any politician before

No much different between Politicians and GOs in Nigeria. OP you can as well talk to your pastor to do that.
