Keeping The Romance Alive In Marriage by Ablaf(op): 7:22am On Jun 14, 2025
WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 14/6/2025.

Topic: Keeping the Romance Alive in Marriage

Bible Verses:
“...Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth… Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; be intoxicated always in her love...” Proverbs 5:18-19

Romance is not a worldly idea—it is God’s design for marriage. Passion, delight, and joy in one another keep love alive and sacred.

Listen again to Song of Solomon 4:9-10
“...You have captivated my heart… How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! Your love is better than wine...”

Romantic love is poetic, expressive, and deeply intimate. God included this book to show that romance is holy within covenant marriage.

Christlike Behaviour:

Jesus was tender and thoughtful—even in deep agony, He cared for His mother (John 19:26). Romance is fueled by intentionality, compassion, and thoughtfulness.

Ephesians 5:25 says, “...Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church….”

Romance is a reflection of sacrificial love, not mere emotions. It’s choosing to pursue your spouse daily.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 emphasized– “Love is patient, love is kind…”
True romance is more than feelings—it’s consistent actions filled with grace.

Christlike romance is not manipulative or selfish—it serves with joy.

Medical Perspective

Healthy romance strengthens emotional connection and physical well-being. Studies show:

Flirtation and touch increase dopamine and oxytocin, improving mood and bonding.

Romantic expressions help reduce stress and anxiety.

Playfulness and surprises ignite brain activity that enhances closeness.

Romance helps rekindle desire, especially in long-term marriages, and guards against emotional drift.

Application

Pursue your spouse like when you were dating.

Write love notes or send kind messages during the day.

Set aside time for intimacy—plan romantic evenings, express admiration, and compliment generously.

Pray together regularly and express thanks for each other’s presence.

Keep things fresh—try new things together, like cooking a new meal, dancing at home, or a surprise date.

You don’t find romance—you create it through daily choices of love.

PRAYER:
Gracious Father, thank You for the beauty of romance in marriage. Thank You for giving us joy, attraction, and laughter as part of our covenant. Teach us to nurture our affection, to never grow cold in our love, and to express it through kind words and thoughtful gestures. Help us pursue each other with new passion and Christlike tenderness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Final Words of Encouragement:
Romance is not a phase—it’s a spiritual rhythm you can cultivate. It revives what routine has dulled and deepens what time has tested. Keep the fire burning—not by waiting for feelings, but by fanning the flame with intentional acts of love.

“...Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it…” – Song of Solomon 8:7

There's no verse for Jesus or any of his disciples chasing their wives?

Everything erotic goes to Proverbs and Solomon!

And Solomon had 300 wives and 700 concubines!

The way some husbands doing outside with mistress and girlfriends, if they can be doing 1/10 of it at home, marriage won't be parking up like park of card.

You will see a married man, that would be complaining and lamenting that he too preoccupied to feed and shelter his family, but the same busy husband would create chance to carry girlfriends to malls and different places.

IF COUPLES IN MARRIAGE, CAN BE TREATING THEIR SPOUSES, THE WAY THEY WANT THEIR SON/DAUGHTER TO BE TREATED, SOCIETY WOULD BETTER.

It's very easy to become lazy in marriage. When you're not trying to impress your spouse anymore, things fall into routine and the marriage loses its spark.

The mind, and the memory helps marriage.
How many spouses appreciate to wake up on the same bed with their first .....?
See, the ladies have had to live up to the hype till now that the man has to do almost all.
Women would have been more appreciative if they came real instead of living in limbo and weaponize even the air they breathe just for even strangers to give them a pat on the back for being who they are.
Women ....come down the high horses and be thankful at least to your man for being in the picture.
Last time I heard, dead lions ain't better than living dogs.....
Love to the home

Zooposki:
Men always trying to give the bare minimum and expect women to be thankful. Hopefully women wake up soonest and realize that marriage is outdated and a farce.
My response if for those who will remain in their marriages and not quitters.
Two things
One, where's that manual for stereotype men.....?
Two, if you're a lady, I understand.
Live like there's no tomorrow and what you ladies wish, your men may do.
Think about it

You do not seem to understand what love is all about. I have washed my wife's panties with her flow on it. I have seen some secretions that don't look so nice, she has farted uncountable times in my very before cheesy. Guess what, I'm loving her harder! That to me is real love. Love should not be conditional if it is to be pure. Yea keeping fit is very essential and both of us do that and also live healthy.

More than decades. So, "ur baba- baba talking from decades experiences in marriage", not only that , I have taught thousands of both single, married and even divorces about marriage, in addition to my intervention in people that are experiencing crises in marriage.

Take my advice and mend Ur way if you want to enjoy Ur marriage, u can also continue strong and continue toxic in marriage.

NB. Out of like 15 of us that we grew up together, only 3 of us that not for once sent wife parking . What you were saying, is exactly what the rest were saying, but today, it's either they are single father, or latter reconcile and start doing the advice I just gave to you now.

Thank you.

Most will realize too late that in Marriage, the game is totally different.
In Most marriages , SEX start becoming less and less the more the marriage lasts, infact it reduces or cease completely once children come into the picture, it becomes only an event that occur only during procreation.....
Reason why most married men cheat is cos the wife at home stops giving sex and has shifted love and affection to the children, men have feelings too and want to be loved and appreciated.
......this is not a generalization, notice how I use the word most and many
