The story may be untrue. Israel moved all their planes to Greece and Cyprus due to the risk of being hit by Iranian missiles.

However the Israelis miscalculated just like the Iranians after being tricked during negotiations and failed to put the army on high alert.

The initial shock and awe strike was designed to:
1. Cripple Iranian defenses and ability to respond.
2. Eliminate the top hierarchy of the Iranian command.
3. Allow moles within the government to force a regime change.
4. Destroy Iran's capacity to enrich uranium

Failures
1. Israel failed to cripple Iran's capability to retaliate as most drones and missiles were buried in mountains underground
2.After the initial shock, a new chain of command was quickly established.
3. The Israeli attack brought out anger among Iranians and brought the people together and they rallied around their leaders.
4. The damage cause to Iranian Nuclear sites was only at surface level and the main enrichment centrifuge underground were untouched. They just gave Iran a reason to actually create a nuclear bomb.
