What is the Federal High Court e-Affidavit System? The Federal High Court e-Affidavit system is an online platform that allows individuals and organizations to apply for and process affidavits without needing to physically visit the court. It aims to streamline the affidavit process by enabling applicants to complete the entire procedure digitally—saving time and reducing the risk of errors or fraudulent documents. This digital solution also enhances security by providing each affidavit with a unique identification number or QR code, making it easier to verify the document’s authenticity. 2. How Do I Apply for an e-Affidavit? The process of applying for an e-Affidavit is straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started: Step 1: Visit the official Federal High Court portal https://portal.fhc.gov.ng/ and create an account. Step 2: Select the type of affidavit you require and complete the online application form. Be sure to enter the necessary details correctly to avoid any issues during the review process. Step 3: Upload any supporting documents required for your application. This could include personal identification, case documents, or other relevant paperwork. Step 4: Review your application thoroughly before submitting it, and make sure everything is accurate. Step 5: Make the required payment online via the platform. After processing, your affidavit will be ready for download. Once completed, you can download the digitally signed affidavit, which includes a unique identification number or QR code for verification. 3. How Long Does the e-Affidavit Process Take? The length of time required to complete the e-Affidavit process depends on your familiarity with the system. First-time users may take around 30 minutes to an hour, especially during the registration and form-filling stages. However, for those who are familiar with the system, the process can typically be completed within 10 to 20 minutes. This represents a significant improvement over the traditional affidavit process, which could involve lengthy court visits and manual paperwork. 4. What Are the Costs of Obtaining an e-Affidavit? The cost of an e-Affidavit is generally ₦1,500. This fee covers the processing and issuance of the affidavit through the online platform. Each e-Affidavit issued comes with a unique identification number and a QR code. Verifying an e-Affidavit is simple: Option 1: Enter the unique identification number on the Federal High Court’s verification portal. Option 2: Scan the QR code on the affidavit with your smartphone. This feature provides users and stakeholders with confidence in the security of their documents and ensures that only genuine affidavits are recognized in legal or official proceedings. 6. What Are the Legal Implications of Submitting False Information? When applying for an e-Affidavit, applicants must swear to the truthfulness of the information they provide.
