Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio is pleased to announce that Gennaro Gattuso will be the new First Team Head Coach. The Calabrian coach will be presented officially on Thursday 19 June, at 11:00 CESt, at Hotel Parco dei Principi in Rome.

Gabriele Gravina, the President of the FIGC spoke about the appointment: "Gattuso is a symbol of Italian football, the shirt is like his second skin. His motivations, professionalism and experience will be fundamental in taking on the next challenges of the National Team. He knows the importance of our objectives and I thank him for his readiness and dedication in accepting this challenges. He shares the FIGC's project of the development of our football, in which the Azzurri shirt is a central part".

Gattuso, known for his hard-tackling, won everything as a player with AC Milan two league titles and two Champions League trophies, where he made 468 appearances and scored 11 goals. His only goal in 73 appearances for Italy was a fierce 25-meter strike against England in a 1-0 win in November 2000. He won the World Cup with Italy in 2006.

As a coach, he has managed AC Milan, Napoli, Valencia, Marseille and lately Hajduk Split leaving the Croatian side last month.

I think The Italian FA are too lazy to scout for a top coach for their national team or they just want a Italian manager because there are a lot of better coaches out there who are out of jobs, lõew,klopp,zidane postecoglu just to mention a few.

Gattuso I so much love his hard tackling stance.

Then you're clearly not following his managerial career. He's a mediocre coach at best that have never lasted more than 2 years at any club. He's still very hot headed.

I hope he can redeem himself first then the national team this time round. Because Italy missing 3 straight world will be too bad
