The steady power supply and security is enough reason
leave steady power supply out of it because many Nigerians now enjoy steady power supply through solar energy. So if you can afford 5million naira in Nigeria, you will have a steady power supply in your home.

The main issue is insecurity. Rising insecurity, kidnapping for ransom, it's scary.

Nigerian government should do something fast about the rising insecurity in Nigeria.

Another thing driving Nigerians out of Nigeria is inflation that is making rich people poorer.

Imagine $1 dollar in 2022 was 385 to 420 naira but it is now currently 1600 naira under Bola Tinubu's dead regime.

Imagine cost of cement from 3000 naira per bag to 10,700 naira.

What about iron rod?

Did I mention petrol from 180 naira per liter to 890 naira per liter?

Tinubu alone drove away more than 60% of Nigerians currently living abroad today with his thoughtless policies.

There was a wave of migration from Nigeria as soon as Tinubu became President in 2023 and it may get worse if the man wins reelection in 2027

This is a proof that money is not everything. Money can be made in Nigeria. But there are levels of comfort that money can never guarantee in Nigeria. Some poor people abroad are more comfortable than some rich people in Nigeria.
Each will decide what he wants. I personally regret going abroad. If I would choose a country in my next life, I will still choose Nigeria.

I was not poor back home in Nigeria but I eat far much more richer pepper soup , isi ewu, asun washed down with my Guinness stout and rush to the nearest hospital to receive good enough attention if I feel unwell here in the USA ,there is no comparison though if u have the resources to keep a good standard of living in Nigeria , generators etc go ahead and stay home and ppl will be kowtowing to u and serving you while u oppress and look down on them.

Why will someone in a better country miss a place where there's no peace of mind? Fear of kidnappers, no light, no good road, hunger everywhere. Except the people that traveled through Backdoor and not finding it easy to get papers.

Agreed. But who will now make Nigeria work? We are supposed to fight to make it work. Whose responsibility is to make Nigeria work, if not the citizens who know what is right? Those who left Nigeria also contributed to the shades of wrong here. Angels did not aid the country we are going to but the people did and not by running away from their fight, but by staying true to a course of their identity.

There is no substitute for the dignity, beauty, and joy of living in your home country/culture.

There are no Nigerians that prefer being abroad. They're abroad because multiple countries and 1% entities are constantly stealing from Nigeria and undermining its government. They are not immigrants, they're refugees of neocolonialism and oligarchs.

On the most basic level, no country besides another African nation or black Caribbean nation can be as pleasant as Nigeria. Nonblacks are not attractive or pleasant to live around, work with, and do business with. Their cultures are boring and lame. Their food and music are garbage. They pollute your children's mind with their various kinds of depravity. They erode your culture. Your grandchildren may not even speak Yoruba/Igbo/etc. Worse, they could be mixed race.
Keep kwayet there! So na western countries cause inflation, corruption, nepotism, favouritism and terrorism for Nigeria?

98% of Nigerians wey japa go UK US and Canada will definitely not to better than they are doing if dem dey Nigeria.
Nigerians just like to complain,
-person wey dey earn 300k monthly salary for Nigeria go dey complain say e no get pass 300 pounds monthly savings/investment for UK.
-person wey dey spend 2hrs on d road to go from him house in ikorodu to office in Lekki every morning go reach UK dey complain say rent is much in London, and he cannot stay far away and drive 1hr to work everyday.

The only people with regrets about moving abroad are the people that didn't appreciate what God gave them in Nigeria and just decided to japa because it looks cool and abroad pictures dey enter their eyes. And people wey dey on that table no plenty.

What if this was just a ploy? A man once told me that in the next phase of colonisation...they wont come to your country, you will take yourself to them...modern day slavery.

Moving Abroad is the greatest gift I gifted myself, family and Children. I vow not to born and raise my children in Nigeria and Nigeria will never happen to them. They can only visit Nigeria for Holidays.

In fact, I'm angry I wasn't born there but still grateful to God for actualizing such

If you put together all the active politicians in Nigeria they do not make up to 10% of the population!

The rot in Nigeria was caused by Nigerians including the goats that ran abroad and are now claiming to be holier-than-thou! angry

The only regret about moving abroad is that it didn't happen earlier than when it happened.

It will take you an average of 10 years before you start knowing the western world is a scam. It’s a new system of slavery without chains.

People who have left for over 10 years are planning to return home, the newbies are the ones hoping to stay.

One thing is guaranteed, you will hit that point when it will dawn on you that the race is not worth it.

When you run like a clock for 10 years, your brains will start resetting.

There are 3 kinds of people who deny the fact that abroad life is a far better upgrade:

1. Those who didn't enter abroad the right way (as PRs).

2. Those that entered abroad with unrealistic expectations.

3. The Self-deceivers and fake Patriots.
Re: Why We Don’t Regret Moving Abroad – Nigerians by Originalsly:
Hmmm ....interesting. This is an individual thing ... and I believe a major factor is the person's status abroad. If one is a Permanent Resident ...then he can have a better life abroad (US). Before this present Trump administration... I'll say the same for those without papers but opportunities to move up would be limited. Presently ... I would say fear of ICE is worse than any fear one would have in Nigeria. I really don't know how some people are living through this fear ... is like at any moment ...ICE can basically snatch you and there's no going back to your home ...nor your people t home know you were snatched let alone where you are held ...if you're still in the country..or sent to be locked away in El Salvador Max prison....for life. These are the people that are more likely to have regrets ... but I guess their pride will not allow them to keep it real. My view ... from daily observations.

Those people you mentioned run out of Nigeria when they want to do certain things. They keep their children away from Nigeria. They leave Nigeria when they want to have a good time. So, what is your point?

*An amusing chatter on X*

This is sounding more like a broken record already by "wet blankets." It's BETTER to keep your heads low while in the Diaspora and stop gloating at your ancestral country of birth. Diasporans need the opportunities offered from both environments to thrive instead of sniggering at Nigeria.

After all, whose gonna lift Nigeria up if we all don't return at intervals and collaborate with folks on the motherland via the use of technology-based tools for facetime information sharing and collaboration on how to remove inneficiences in the political, social and economic ecosystems.

The Diasporans of various descents (in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom over the many decades) from Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, South Korean, Indian, Jewish, etc, have largely been instrumental in bringing disruptive innovations and perspectives back into their countries of ancestry origin not just through remittances but actual sharing of knowledge and business investments.

He should come and define to me his definition of rich Nigeria... That is my point..

I will say this just this one time and anybody that doesn't agree can go hug a transformer.
Moving abroad is not for everybody. It's a choice. You can stay in Nigeria and live with it's issues and challenges and be fine with it or otherwise bur when the opportunity come to expand your horizon, I beseech you to take it. Go and see, and if you don't like it, ofcourse, you are free to come back. That country won't stop you from not returning back to your home country. So I don't get it.
Me, I don't regret leaving when the opportunity presented itself. Nigeria is in a very deep mess and lack of honesty, truth and transparency is taking that country to lower depth. A society where success is determined by godfatherism, tribalism, Nepotism and even religion, characterized by impunity, oppression, intimidation, greed and lack of idealogy. What expectations should one have of such society. It's not like it's easy abroad but where the difference lies is in the mindset. In the UK for example, honesty is everything even though you under the hammer but the reverse is the case in my Nigeria. The average Nigerian is just looking for how to extort something even at the expense of the life of the person they trying to extort.

It's so sad but it is what it is. Abroad, intentions tend to be genuine than back home and as trivia as it sounds, it makes a very huge difference. I will say this, if government is being honest and selfless, you have solved half of Nigerians problem. So me o, I no get any regrets to Japa o. All those politicians children all have second nationality and are not geographically restricted, I wonder why is should be restricted.

Pls list one African country that don't have Fulani, bandits and bad government. With my hard Nigerian cash I repeat again HARD CASH, I will relocate there as my japa. I doubt if the shege we are seeing as Nigerians is exactly in another African country without the 3 groups listed above.

If I was in Nigeria, there was no way my four children will be in same University as your Senate President’s children. There is now way I could afford to send four children to top 30 Universities in world best university ranking with my pay. Except of course if I became a political office holder with opportunity to loot. Unfortunately, not all of us are made of the looters' clay.
