This is a proof that money is not everything. Money can be made in Nigeria. But there are levels of comfort that money can never guarantee in Nigeria. Some poor people abroad are more comfortable than some rich people in Nigeria.

On a different note, Tonto no dey post herself on Father's Day again.
Poor people abroad more comfortable than rich people in Nigeria lmao 🤣😂. Please come and be poor here we are waiting. How do you people even see abroad heaven? Spreading funny stories up and down purely based on immigration.
Re: Why We Don’t Regret Moving Abroad – Nigerians by McLizbae:
Do you know that more than 50% of homes in Nigeria cannot even afford half of that 5m just to install solar? Do you know that that scheme have nothing to do with the reliable and affordable energy required to drive small, medium, and large scale Industrializations that are capable of a meaningful economic growth? Steady power is still a basic infrastructural deficit in Nigeria, holding back productivity and eceonmic growth.
franchasofficia:
leave steady power supply out of it because many Nigerians now enjoy steady power supply through solar energy. So if you can afford 5million naira in Nigeria, you will have a steady power supply in your home.

The main issue is insecurity. Rising insecurity, kidnapping for ransom, it's scary.

Nigerian government should do something fast about the rising insecurity in Nigeria.

Another thing driving Nigerians out of Nigeria is inflation that is making rich people poorer.

Imagine $1 dollar in 2022 was 385 to 420 naira but it is now currently 1600 naira under Bola Tinubu's dead regime.

Imagine cost of cement from 3000 naira per bag to 10,700 naira.

What about iron rod?

Did I mention petrol from 180 naira per liter to 890 naira per liter?

Tinubu alone drove away more than 60% of Nigerians currently living abroad today with his thoughtless policies.

There was a wave of migration from Nigeria as soon as Tinubu became President in 2023 and it may get worse if the man wins reelection in 2027

I'm happy for them.

If u like, be listening to those telling u not to move.

This is exactly how one of my exam officers put it to me the day I went to collect my result.

He said he had regretted his decision to remain in Nigeria after the school retained him as the best graduating student in his faculty in the 80s. He said that some of his mates back then didn't waste the opportunity they all had but relocated to US and UK. Today, they have their permanent residence and have all moved their families there while he's still fighting for minimum wage.

I looked around his dusty and rickety office and he started pointing at his fan and AC that neither was working. As I tell you, till today, this man has made it a point of duty to always call me every week just to remind of the need to leave Nigeria while I still have the energy.

Una too dey argue ....most of them in USA have no retirement..they work till 70s ! That's madness that slavery

About 6 to 8 million adults ages 65 and older were living in poverty in 2022, depending on the measure used to assess poverty. Under the official poverty measure, one in 10 (10.2%), or 5.9 million adults ages 65 and older, had incomes below the official poverty threshold

In short ! Majority of the Americans are in one debt or the other ...working to pay off these debts

Nigeria is a trap.
If you are able to escape it by any means, do yourself a great good by NEVER returning to it!

I want to ask you a question pls.

Can one relocate to England or Uk to go work in a radio/television news station as a presenter?
How possible is dat?
Mindlog:
England.

If you are well skilled in an occupation that is highly sought after in the UK, then search through UK job sites.

He's not far from truth actually if you do objective assessment. 2 of my very good lecturers when I was in school just relocated and I know some others that are still processing theirs. Some still take loan after selling their land, just to escape Nigeria because Tinubu is totally without direction and to make matters worse, all the corrupt people we have been waiting to see punished are all joining the same party to erase their sins.

As I am, I'm seriously planning my exit because it's not just for myself but for my children. The future of Nigeria looks too bleak and one becomes helpless when even the poor ones are supporting their tormentors in the name of tribe and religion and political party, it's just irredeemable!

You can at least go get a job cleaning toilets for minimum wage abroad.

In Naija, the options are the dehumanising beg or steal or ignorant prayer!
I don't think you've ever lived abroad. Maybe you don't know what certain jobs and conditions do to your psyche. You think those aren't dehumanising there? Humor me. Caucasians haven't done poop to you and you can't react. What many of you call "God's favour" here will land you in prison over there.

There's a reason some people are reverse immigrating. It's not for everyone. Money

Nigerians justifying that staying in Nigeria Is better than Japa dey always kpai me.
Nigeria is third world country ffs , an underdeveloped nation.
Imagine in big 2025 people are still shouting up nepa like fooooolsss , imagine the foolery.
Some foolish fools would also come and say ehnn u can get solar , why are you so daft thinking that it's everybody that can afford solar ??
Kidnappers in Nigeria these days don't even target wealthy victims anymore , they just kidnap random people and asks for ransom.

Check out the unemployment , involuntary unemployment is crazy , millions of graduate year in year out , no job , no nothing. Some would say they should go and learn skills , skills acquisition is free abi ??

You get sick and they tell you to drop a deposit before treatment, meanwhile patient is slowly dying but they don't care , everyone is all about their money , everything here is money , money ,money. Too foolish to realize that money is just figures it's not even real.

Seriously anybody that compares this shit hole Nigeria to abroad is seriously sick in the brain and needs urgent treatment. Smh

Okay.

I can see that you just stated one of the disadvantages in getting such jobs. Alright.

But what i want to know is, how can one start the process of getting employed in radio/tv in UK?
Even if it doesn't work out at the end, but i want to know the processes to apply?

I want to try!

Bloomsvilledgit:
A living dog in Nigeria is better than a dead lion in US/UK
nice analogy

As of the most recent data available (up to 2024), poverty in the UK remains a significant social issue, particularly affecting minority ethnic groups — with Black communities disproportionately impacted.

🔍 Key Facts on Poverty in the UK (General):

Overall poverty rate: About 20–22% of the UK population is considered to be living in poverty.

Child poverty: Around 29% of children in the UK live in poverty.

Working poverty: A growing number of people in poverty are actually employed — known as the “working poor.”

📊 Poverty Among Black Communities in the UK:

According to data from organizations like the Social Metrics Commission, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and UK government statistics:

1. Higher Poverty Rates for Black Households

Black African and Black Caribbean households experience poverty rates of around 40–45%, far higher than the national average.

For comparison:

White British households: ~19%

Pakistani households: ~49%

Bangladeshi households: ~53%

Black African households: ~44%

Black Caribbean households: ~39%

2. Key Factors Behind This Disparity

Discrimination in the labour market: Black workers often earn less and are underrepresented in senior roles.

Higher unemployment rates: Black people are about twice as likely to be unemployed as White people.

Housing inequalities: More likely to live in overcrowded or poor-quality housing.

Lower accumulated wealth: Generational wealth is lower among Black British families.

Single-parent households: A larger proportion of Black households are single-parent, which statistically face higher poverty risks.

3. Impact of Recent Crises

COVID-19 and the cost-of-living crisis hit Black communities harder due to:

Overrepresentation in frontline/essential jobs.

Limited access to safety nets like savings or home ownership.

🔄 What Is Being Done?

Community initiatives: Grassroots organizations and local councils offer targeted support.

Government support: Universal Credit, child benefits, and housing support — though many say these are not sufficient.

Calls for reform: Anti-racism groups and think tanks urge systemic changes in employment, education, and housing policies.

🧠 Insight

The intersection of race and poverty in the UK is not merely economic — it's also structural and historic. Despite progress in education and awareness, Black Britons still face uphill battles in equality of opportunity and outcomes.

Some people would still be alive if they had not travelled abroad, some people would have been living far richer and comfortable here in naija if they had not travelled abroad and some people would have been dead or still be suffering if they had remained in Nigeria. No place is heaven and no place is hell.
