Peter Obi accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of showing little or no concern for the misfortunes befalling Nigerians.

He also admonished Nigerians to desist from voting along religious and tribal lines and instead vote for people with competence, capacity, character, and compassion.
He cited India and South Africa as case studies to buttress his point about countries with compassionate leadership.

He concluded by saying that he insists Nigeria does not just need another president; Nigeria needs a leader — a leader with competence, capacity, character, and compassion.

What cannot be hidden in Leadership

Leadership of a nation is such that it's either succeeding or failing, none can be hidden. There are critical areas of leadership that must exist for a nation to move forward, and these are summed up in four Cs: Competence, Capacity, Character and Compassion. Where these four are non-existent, there is no magic you can do.
It's in this line that I have always maintained that we must move away from voting based on tribe and religion, and begin to vote for people with competence, capacity, character, and compassion, because we have all seen, painfully, what leadership without these qualities has done to our country.

Competence because Nigeria today needs a leader who understands the issues, who has the knowledge, experience, and clear ideas to solve them. Capacity because it is not a ceremonial position; it requires strength, stamina, and the mental energy to confront our complex challenges. And above all, leadership must be rooted in character and integrity because without integrity, public trust collapses, corruption thrives, and selfishness takes over. But perhaps most importantly, we need compassion, because when a leader lacks compassion, human lives are treated as statistics, and suffering is ignored.

Sadly, the evidence is right before our eyes. Recently, we witnessed severe flooding in Niger State that claimed nearly 200 lives, with many still missing. Yet, not even a single presidential visit, this, in a nation where the scene of the tragedy is less than an hour away by helicopter.

Just days ago, over 200 Nigerians, innocent men, women, children, and even soldiers were massacred in Benue State. Again, no presidential visit. No physical presence at the scenes of pain. No genuine national mourning. No leadership face to comfort the grieving or give hope to the people.

Yet, we have seen what true leadership looks like elsewhere:

In India, after a plane crash killed nearly 200 people, the Prime Minister was physically at the scene within hours.

In South Africa, when floods claimed 78 lives, the president went personally to the affected communities, stood with them, and took responsibility.

That is leadership with compassion. That is leadership that understands the value of human life. But here in Nigeria, we have normalised leadership without empathy, without accountability, and without a human face.

That is why I insist: Nigeria does not just need another president; Nigeria needs a leader, a leader with competence, capacity, character, and compassion. Until we choose leaders on these principles, the cycle of pain will only continue.

A New Nigeria is POssible.

Obi is 100% correct. Very very correct.
When politically motivated insecurity arose during Jonathan's time, Tinubu's voice was the loudest. He was always wailing like a prophet in the street.

Now, we are seeing insecurity that is 1,000 times more than Jonathan/PDP era, and the man is as quiet as a graveyard. The only thing he does is to release empty statements.

A president who sympathizes with India while his own house is on constant fire is a man who doesn't deserve the vote of a normal thinking person.

But UNFORTUNATELY, people are blinded by tribe, religion, and dead sentiment

It's very obvious. Tinubu has no human feeling. He is only concern about winning election by all means.

Peter Obi is right. The president must show utmost concern for citizens and their welfare.

It took 48 hours for the president to acknowledge that he lost his citizens. Even the Pope acknowlegded it while our national leaders played the ostrich.

It seems killing in Benue is now culturalized. The COAS and the presidency should be scandalized. The COAS was there in early June 2025, but as soon as he left, those doing the killings started again. So what exactly did he go there to do?

As for the governor, your responsibility as a governor supercedes your calling as a priest. You do not even wear the collar of a priest as the church suspended your priestly duties. Remember leaders in the Bible like Joshua led wars. Be at the forefront of the war in your state. No criminal must be spared. Make examples of a few and the others would be afraid. You'd have our backing to rid your state of criminal elements.

Dear President Tinubu, the statement you issued on this incident was inflammatory, accusatory and scandalizing. You didn't even spare a thought to those gruesomely murdered, but your statement seemed to apportion blames to the killers and those killed.

Please do better and ensure that ALL Nigerian lives are as valuable as your own. Justice must be served on killers and murderers. States must be assisted. You cannot outsource your primary responsibilities as CinC. The least we expected is that you'd ask the governor what he needs and provide everything. If he needs a full battalion in each LGA, provide it. Any senior army official who refuses to give orders for our gallant troops to take out terrorists, he should be demoted, retired without benefits and jailed for cowardice.

And it is time you visit that state and give those people hope.

That is why we campaigned for you. We won't defend you where you are wrong.

Accuser of the president, one man lambarino. He thinks problems are solved by running helter skelter and taking pictures with victims or going to places of disaster to pose cluelessly like him and GEJ.

Tinubu do not care about anyone.
Listen to his Democracy Day speech and you will know that all Tinubu care for now is his second tenure in office which he knows he does not even deserve.

I wish Nigerians will vote for him, so they will see and experience more killings and insecurity.
