You earn respect. If I was American, I wouldn’t respect Africa.
Without Africa and Africans, there would be Nothing called America today.

It would be a wasteland of broke white savages, because Everything began with the arrival of African captives who worked the land for generations for free, contributing their physical labour as well as intellectual skills gained from Africa, as iron workers, textile workers, horticulturalists and irrigation experts among other coveted skills of the period.

Tell that to any fat, lazy American who thinks he doesn’t “respect Africa”.

Tell him that without Africa, he wouldn’t exist.

That’s the way to treat shady promoters. It’s good to see that he’s grown from the kid who wanted a feature with any US performer to this. Somebody can remain a local artiste and make good money. Olamide didn’t care about global recognition, but it didn’t hurt when he achieved it. 50 Cent will want a big African name yet refuse to pay him/her like an American talent. He should eat his concert. Ghanaians, sef, don’t stand for such disrespect.
Re: ‘Africa Must Be Respected,’ Says Davido, Pulls Out Of 50 Cent’s Concert by QueenJazz(f):
Even though I hate it, this is why I sometimes enjoy reading comments from delusional, sentimental 9ja music fans, especially Davido stans who are already here crying all over the thread with ashes on their head. They just make you laugh with how absurdly twisted their logic is. cheesy

Just imagine the audacity of someone here, claiming that concert-goers aged 18-34 don't know 50 Cent. Like are you guys being serious right now? 50 Cent? One of the pioneers of hip hop in the 21st century? An international brand? The guy who sang "In Da Club" is unknown to millennials, according to you? Lol, and you wonder why actual music critics don't take people like you seriously? I understand cognitive dissonance can be terrible but come on now. 50 Cent's catalog and Davido's catalog aren't even in the same ballpark. It doesn't matter what stage they're on, Davido will always be second string to 50 Cent.

And what if 50 Cent's commercial peak occurred decades ago? Do you seriously think longevity in the entertainment industry is measured by recency, and not lasting influence? Imagine dismissing established legends as "hasbeens", but you're busy championing the flavor-of-the-month type of records that Davido and his other comrades in mediocrity churn out in the pretense it's art.

Someone even mentioned Bruce Springsteen and James Brown. Those men REVOLUTIONIZED popular music. What didn't they have? Everything about them was distinctive. Their voice - as croaky as it was - still had style, charisma, musical genius etc. I can't think of anything particularly unique about Davido. He sounds like your average Afrobeat singer. No lyrical depth, no significant artistry. Just a run of the mill. Afrobeats in general is just cultural gentrification in and of itself. These guys just take authentic African rhythms and sanitize them to become overly derivative, albeit consumable by the Western media. Sometimes they even market it "world music". That's why everybody sounds alike. Easily the most bland music genre I've ever come across.

I should sucker punch some of you for even having the temerity to mention Davido in the same sentence with James Brown. Davido that can't even sing without auto-tune, even if his own life was at stake. grin

When legends share a stage, the real pretenders will always reveal themselves inevitably via comparison. But for people like Davido and his naive, sentimental fans, it's way easier to craft the narrative of unfairness and martyrdom instead of enduring the humiliation of performing before an audience that is ten times more excited about the headliners. Make una no dey whine una selves abeg.

The best artists in the Nigerian music scene mostly reside in the alté genre. Lady Donli, Cavemen and even Tems. But na average Davido una wan craze on top. grin

Hmmm ...50 featuring Davido and Mary J . I just can't grab exactly why Davido is pulling out. Business is business...what went wrong?... respect doesn't count . Whatever standards he wanted met ... shouldn't that be agreed on before he signed? If so be it...then he should show up for the performance and not perform if the requirements are not met ...and can even sue 50 for breach of contract. Pulling out now after he signed may very well have 50 smiling all the way to the bank ...breach of contract.ß

Davido, remember you went to embarass your country on world stage. Nobody can respect you again. They see you are desperate for acceptance, to go as far as destroying your country reputation. They can never respect you, they will pay you peanut because that is what you are worth.

STOOP AND CONQUER OH DAVID. 50 IS A FORCE TO RECKON WITH ABEG.
So because he wants to conquer an A-list artist like himself should go and start doing boy-boy for 50 Cent just because he's an American?! undecided

Such contracts usually have a clause which gives a time window for one of the parties to pull out!

In that case I don't need to travel out again for the show. Whoever that want to attend should reach out to me for my ticket. I'm giving it out free of charge.

What is a MAJOR HIT?? How do you define that? Please enlighten us

50 cent is 49 years old

What is the age of people that actually pay money to go to concerts? 18-34 and how many of them even know who 50 cent is ?
In London I believe Davido is likely to pull more crowd than 50 cent.

I suspect Davido is pulling out because the American stars have been given greater prominence

50 cent and Mary J Blige had bigger commercial success than Davido but that was 25 years ago. Their time has past.
I believe they would have sold more tickets in London because of Davido given the large Nigerian population

Davido has done the right thing and I believe he even made a mistake to be on a show with those people . He has been filling venues in London and should do his own show without those hasbeens
That whas the point I gave up on your post. Tell me which Davido song is on the same level as In Da Club,

In other words, you are saying Davido is more popular and his songs are more appealing to the world? This is not a question of inferiority complex but a fact that even after his death, 50 cents will still be more popular than Davido.

You people in the comment section writing rubbish about what song Davido will perform don’t forget that Davido have like 4 songs in the US that has golden platinum also his recent album top UK Apple Music charts shey na your papa song dem dey stream nii before FC and bad mind go
Kee una one day 😂😂
What are the four golden platinum songs you zre talking and which states just don't say the U.S. because what they play on radio in Houston is completely different when you get to Louisiana or Mississippi. It is only Nigerians abroad, maybe a few of their friends who picked interest and a couple of caribbeans living in the U.S who listen to afrobeat. Hit the streets of Miami today and ask the first 100 people you meet if they know Davido or wizkid and you will be shocked that they have never heard of those names. You think they don't have their own local artists here who are considered popular in their own right?

Davido commands more clout in London than those two artist combined today.

Lol, dem don show with the hilariously irrelevant ad hominems.

They will always get personal with somebody instead of directly addressing the main argument about Davido's artistic mediocrity.

No cogent rebuttal to the points made. No new knowledge contributed. No analysis presented. No critical appraisal of the submission. Just terse whimpers without substance.

So Davido need to beg for recognition, he has not worked hard enough to earn respect, is that what you mean

Africa must be respected yen yen but you go around international podcasts and interviews to denigrate your country. Lmaooo. You demarket your country on international platforms but you are now angry and an international show promoter isn't giving you the same level of respect and resources like other featured stars.

Respect una.

Whereas your family is part of the rot afflicting this nation. Not only is your uncle serving as a governor in one of the states, he is also performing terribly. Not only do you criticize, demarket, and abuse the government, you and your papa and uncle went around Abuja doing "rankadede" to Tinubu, Shettima, and Akpabio. Funny dude.
He's receiving the direct consequences of his badmouthing of d country, all d time. If its once in a while, its understandable. But all d time, nahh.

Even Wizkid was in support of EndSARS but was mature about it. Even Runtown was one of d first musicians to start the protest. But them no dey run mouth anyhow. Very mature about it. But Davido, na lie. Cho cho cho everywhere.

What hasn't Africa done to earn the respect they deserve, it is now very obvious that we have to fight to get the respect we deserve in any means possible and Davido did just that in his right and you are here saying nonsense.
