LASG suspends planning approvals along Lagos-Calabar coastal road

The Lagos State Government has announced the immediate suspension of planning approvals along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.

The announcement was contained in a statement by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide in Alausa on Monday.

Olumide said that the suspension of planning approvals along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road was necessary to address the impacts of the project on the State’s Physical Development Plans in the area.

According to him, the project had significantly impacted the just concluded Ode-Omi Action Area Plan as well as the ongoing Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan and Lekki Comprehensive Master Plan that are at various stages of preparation.

“As a result of the effects of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road on our Development Plans, it is germane to review the situation on ground and align it with the Development Plans to forestall any further distortion now or in the nearest future.

“In this connection, it is equally important to temporarily suspend Planning Approvals in the axis until further notice, “ the commissioner said.

Olumide emphasised that the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority has been mandated to carry out this suspension order until it is directed otherwise.

He noted that the Lagos State Government remained steadfast in its commitment to an organised, livable, inclusive, and sustainable built environment, while assuring that the state was well-positioned to reap the many benefits of the inter-state Coastal Highway.

So no assessment was done prior to the start of the project?

Your paymaster got angry with your approval of land in Lagos State without "due process".dissed you in public over that. You carry yourself and GAC to beg paymaster. You were given condition.
A week later..all approvals pending until paymaster select his fill and tell you which to approve or not. After all .he "built" Lagos

It is very important that those projects be halted as rightly explained but we all know that the money initially disbursed cannot be recouped and they would have to reaward the project again.

Finally listened to PBAT...He got a wind of what Sanwo Olu wanted to do with his cronies. Buy up all that area for future development and resell at humongous prices maybe ...cos the President specifically mentioned it to the Deputy Gov around the same time when we clearly saw there was an issue. I am sure PBAT looking futuristic thinks all those areas should be for industries so they can move things to and from Lekki Deep SeaPort.

Absolute Nonsense!
Governance is not about shenking its Citizens, irrespective of what they support or do not support,. Any Govt that makes that a Policy, is Petty in Nature. A Leader must rise above such childish behaviour.

The ban on Planning Permission, affects everyone in that axis, including those who supported the President and the Project.
Planning Permission is for anyone who already owns land Property in that axis, whose Property is not on the Right of Way of the Project (otherwise it will have been demolished by now!) and wants to develop his Property so, what is the rationale for this sort of expansive, blanket ban and denying everybody the right to develop their Property?

The Government has a Plan for the Highway, as far as 2006.
At the start of the Project, it is the same Government that started all sorts of mago-mago, changing the gazetted Route and Right of Way of the Project, to favor some "Elites" ...... and visiting their authoritarian hammer on ordinary Law-abiding Citizens who followed the Gazette by not building on the Right of Way. Now, it is the Building of these Law-abiding Citizens that are being destroyed,, to save the Property of the High and Mighty who deliberately flouted the Law and built on the Right of Way of the Lagos Calabar Highway, saying: Nothing will happen.

As if that is not enough, now, the same Evil Government is scheming to seize the remaining properties of Law abiding Citizens around the Route of the Highway, whose Property are not affected and wish to develop their Property!

This Criminal and Evil Policies are Unlawful and should be resisted by all lawful means.
The Government has No Right, on the Properties of Citizens, beyond the Right of Way of the Project.

The Government should Stop using the Project as an excuse, to seize the Properties of Lawful Citizens, for itself and its Officials.
That is "Theft and Abuse of Power".
Govt official engaging in these Criminality should be made to Face Justice, when their immunity expires or at the appropriate time.
Enough of this Executive Rascality.

I think Tinubu has achieved his goal of getting a new road to the point he wanted. They are now looking for excuse not to continue. They evidence is there, why would anyone commission Uncompleted project if they have intention of finishing it?
