I've always been curious about this trend. Is it done to make the car appear new or well maintained thereby deceiving the prospective buyer?

VaginaAcademic:It's called marking strategy by December, ohh sorry by deception Nothing wey we no go see from those who claim to be businessmen. Everything is business for them even if it's fake drugs, drink and expired one, sofar they can get money to buy car before xmas to show and intimidate their village people . Without any concern their relations could be a victim. Just like the parable of vulture (Any of them that dies first automatically becomes Meat for the rest of them). |

Most cars I know that are wrapped are tokunbo and it's a standard practice. It makes no sense for the car to come that way and for the seller to remove it just because of what? Majority of these cars are shipped with other items so the wrap is to protect the interior from whatever they might come in contact with before, during and after shipping. |

I figure what happens is they take the car for detailing (thorough cleaning) after which the cleaners wrap the upholstery as an added service. What is annoying however are those who drive these cars around with the polythene still on. Some other put white stickers on the door handles and fenders defacing the car further. |

They do the same for used laptops. They weirdly wrap the screen with cellophane. I think its a disguise to trick unsuspecting buyers that the product is in an almost new working condition. Nigeria is a place where deceit manifests in every facet of society, so no surprises here. |

For the Seller, the wrap is for protection against dirt, for the car to remain neat. For the buyer, leaving the nylon is to show off that he recently bought his car. |

Just to appeal to our sense of vanity. Nigerians are some of the most vain and deceptive people you will meet anywhere. We import scraps from junkyards in the west, refurbish them, clean and wrap them up and then sell. A few months down the road it starts giving issues and what do we do? We still go for another second hand. This only underlines that Nigeria is a nation of poor people. That's why a tokunbo market exists in Nigeria. That's why a market for 'london used' phones and gadgets exists in this country. A nation driven by the mentality of poverty. Because a foreigner or white man used it then it is good as new. Madness. |

erad:Nope you are wrong, those interior wrap were done locally to keep the seat neat from environmental element like dust and stains over the period of sales. That of exterior wrap is a way of changing the outlook cheaply instead of proper painting. |
