Welcome To Salvador - Brazil's Nigerian City (Amazing Video!) by Kemetian(op): 7:38am On Jun 17, 2025
Popular Kenyan YouTuber, African Tigress is touring Brazil, and was shocked when she arrived the great city of 10 million people, Salvador, where it's almost as if everybody has Nigerian ancestry! Yoruba to be precise.

Incredible video.

I heard that whenever the Ooni of Ife goes to this city, it's as if the Pope has arrived! People fill the streets!

The most interesting part about these “ancient Nigerians” of Brazil is that they don’t joke with their traditional religion.

And the Ooni of Ife is their spiritual overlord.

You dare not mess with their Ifa religion.
That’s their identity. Without it, they’re nothing.

They observe their traditional festivals with thousands of people on the streets. They sell akara on the streets, and still call it Akara.

I know all this because my cousin is in Rio and married to one of them. One beautiful black Brazilian babe. They so much love Nigerians that came from Naija. They are ready to give their daughter’s hand in marriage to any Nigerian.

The Brazilian government respects them a lot, and apparently has made Yoruba one of the official languages of Brazil. 😊

From the hauls of slave ships the merchants marched them but today, their history and heritage matched them.

These are the true indigenes of Lagos taking away during slavery and spread to Brazil, Haiti & other carribeans. These are the indigenes tinubus parents from osun sold into slavery to claim eko. That's why we say eko is no-mans-land cos foreigners from south west can claim what's not theirs

majority of the slaves taken ended up in brazil. When the oyo empire fell in the 1830s-1840s. Dahomey and the fulanis enslaved many Yorubas and sold them into slavery. Shortly after slavery was abolished. So many of them were able to hold onto their Yorubas culture and identity

Sorry, it is not Nigerian city but a Yoruba city of Brazil.
It’s Yoruba language and culture they are practicing there.
Most of their great greats grandparents are from present day Oyo and Osun state, and same goes Cuba, T&T, some even Uruguay.
Reason former Cuba president visited Ife and Onni of Ife was welcomed by Brazilian President and he was invited to their House of Assembly

no doubt we have a shared history, dating back to the years of slave trade where some of our ancestors were take as slaves by the colonial masters. Some were able to find their way back to Lagos Nigeria. Brazilian quarters in Lagos island serves as our agbole for the Saro which can also be called our own village grin btw proudly Lagos

why is it that the yoruba people of nigeria are not as neat and clean as these guys in brazil?

since the ooni visits this city, has he not noticed how neat their streets are and how organised they are?

why has he not tried to ensure that Ife is also as clean as Salvador?

abi na just to visit e sabi visit?
