If you have the brain, finance and strength, you can do both.
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by laivwire(m): 5:26pm On Jun 16, 2025
Masters doesn't help. Build experience instead.
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by FunnyDude(m):
Here's my advice:

Find a job first because you need money to fund that master's and settle your life first.

You can go for your master's now too, if you can afford it as soon as possible. You'll thank your future self later on when it open your doors, because it will .

Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by McLizbae: 12:48pm On Jun 17, 2025
Go for IT skills. MSc may make you a bigger liability, if you are not already in academics though.
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by njokuuche77(m): 12:49pm On Jun 17, 2025
Congrats on your graduation!
If you want fast, global opportunities, start with Cybersecurity—it's in high demand and pays well.
You can still do your Master’s later, especially if you're going into academics or research.
Both are good, but tech skills open doors quicker these days.
Wish you the best ahead!
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by Mnewton(m): 12:49pm On Jun 17, 2025
Go for IT,

Masters is loosing its value already!
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by uuzba(m): 12:50pm On Jun 17, 2025
I.T please. Get job, use the money to pay house rent and get independent fast.
Masters is just unnecessary English.
When your head is very balanced, you will use the I.T skills to download all the books
you would have needed for your Masters and read them at your pleasure.
At the end of your reading, you'll still find out that the Masters books were all useless in the first place.

There should be masters degree for the cyber security you are eyeing. Thats like 2 birds gone with slingshot.

Who says you have to make just one choice? You can have both.
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by PriceActionZ: 12:51pm On Jun 17, 2025
IT is better

than
Masters
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by Negroid001(m): 12:52pm On Jun 17, 2025
Don't limit your scope to just cyber security.
There are other high paying IT skills out there.

Do some research
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by AntiWailer: 12:52pm On Jun 17, 2025
Both are important.

At your age, you should be able to combine both without any stories.

No basis for your "OR"
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by bizbro: 12:52pm On Jun 17, 2025
Do both now you’re young, vibrant and hungry. 18 months of intense focus and discipline will set you up a foundation for a successful life.
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by Wisewriter: 12:53pm On Jun 17, 2025
Go for Msc then come back for IT. OR BETTER STILL COMBINE THE TWO. I am considering getting Msc form this week at National Open University. That will give me more opportunity to focus on my digital business

Go for IT skills if you have the means....................
Re: M.sc Or IT Skills by ShenTeh(m): 12:54pm On Jun 17, 2025
IT Skills: 90%
MSc: 10%

Which employer is asking for MSc these days despite the choking competition?

And if you are looking to japa or even future prospects here or abroad, IT still beats MSc hands down.

My late Aunt did Masters from the comfort of her home.
With company car driver carrying her to school, from her balanced married home.
She was even dashing crates of drinks for the hungry and desperate looking lecturers.
She got her Masters in comfort.
And still didn't use it for anything.
She just wanted to keep busy doing something.
Masters is just overrated.

If you really want to go into research and learning...You can go for Masters....But you should ask yourself..How many institutions/organizations offers that opportunity...Masters mostly applies if you want to also become a Lecturer..Even if you want to attain managerial positions in companies...they will require some certification or skills needed to manage people..
So I would suggest you go for IT skills ...it sells more now ..My Two cent

Congratulations on your graduation! Both options have pros and cons. Here's a balanced view to help you decide:

Pursuing a Master's Degree:
- *Pros*:
- Enhanced knowledge and specialization
- Potential career advancement and higher salary
- Networking opportunities
- *Cons*:
- Time commitment (1-2 years)
- Financial investment (tuition fees)

Acquiring IT Skills in Cybersecurity:
- *Pros*:
- In-demand skills with high job prospects
- Potential for quick entry into the workforce
- Continuous learning and growth opportunities
- *Cons*:
- May require continuous updates to stay current
- Potential for burnout if not managed well

Consider the following factors to make your decision:

1. *Career Goals*: Align your choice with your long-term career aspirations.
2. *Industry Demand*: Research the demand for Master's degrees versus IT skills in cybersecurity in your desired field.
3. *Personal Interests*: Choose an option that aligns with your interests and strengths.
4. *Financial Situation*: Consider the financial implications of each option.

You could also consider combining both options:

1. *Pursue a Master's degree with a focus on Cybersecurity*.
2. *Acquire IT skills in Cybersecurity while pursuing your Master's degree*.

Which option resonates with you, or do you have any specific questions about each path?

And you used your clear eyes to select both of them!.
I have 1 Masters and it's paining me too.
Most of what I learnt in it can be found on the internet now.
If to say I know, I for just stay here, buy data, download PDF and read in peace.
