We Are Open For Negotiation With Bandits - Sokoto Government by Newsgeek24(op): 2:15pm On Jun 18, 2025
The Sokoto State Government has reiterated that it is committed to achieving peace and security throughout the State, and would like to engage in dialogue with any armed group that want to lay down their arms and live peacefully, News360 Nigeria reports.

This was stated in a document signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, retired Colonel Ahmed Usman, who emphasized that constructive dialogue and the process of reconciliation would also be important steps to deal with insecurity.

“Most of the conflicts in the history of the World were solved by more than force. This is why the state government would like to keep its doors wide open to any bandit that would like to lay down arms and be reintegrated into society peacefully,” the statement said.

Further, the government expressed its sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Chiefs in the country, heads of Military and Police and other personnel that work and risk their lives for the lives and properties of communities within the region.

“We appreciate their commitment. May Allah have mercy on the souls of those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and grant their families the strength to bear that loss,” said the statement.

You don't negotiate with bandits...or could it be that the bandits are more powerful than the state security structure?

Use the IDF way and bandits will go away. Stop pandering to bandits. Go inside the bush and use the military to root them out.
