Man shares how he witnessed two maternal d3aths at the hospital where he was admitted.

I’ve been at the hospital for some days over a minor fever and I’ve witnessed two maternity d**ths.

First case: Doctor advised the husband to go for CS but he refused and said, “since her due date is in two days, let’s wait.” So, he left with his wife only to return hours …

… later with the pregnant woman bl**ding. She was rushed in for CS but passed away. I don’t know the situation of the child.

The second case: Same CS advise but he ignored. Tragically, the baby passed away in the woman’s belly and they had to use CS to remove the lifeless baby.

You could feel the tension in hospital towards the stubbornness of both husbands but there’s nothing they could do since they can’t forcefully operate on the women without husbands’ consent.

It was really a hard phase for everyone. The nurses kept lamenting. 💔💔

"My pastor said I'll deliver like a Hebrew woman"...I once heard my neighbour's pregnant wife telling someone on the phone.

She placed much trust on her pastor than her doctor.


To be frank, if I have an organisation, I'll first employ a gambler before employing a religious fanatic.

What sort of stubbornness will make anyone go against the advise of a healthcare professional.

Why do we go against God's time?
It was simply their time to go, CS is a sin and an abnormal act in the Bible.
The husbands should be grateful to know their wife and child is in heaven.
Doctors should stop trying to play God, There are no many doctors in hell.

I think we need to abolish this consent. Seriously a lot of people die due to this nonsense.
Doctors do not need consent to do whats right, otherwise their years of education is a waste. In a backward poor society such as ours, people can reject doctor's advices due to poverty and financial obligations.

I would think Male and female ward are separated

If you check well, na lack of money that's at the root of all these alleged stubbornness. Surgery in Nigeria today no be small money. I feel sorry for the poor women.

Someone recently shared online how a friend nearly died as he was copying a popular Pentecostal pastor.

He was holding on to the pastor's public boasts about his "faith" and how he's against medicine.

Thankfully, someone close to the pastor revealed to him how much medical care that pastor gets privately.

Glad you mentioned that it's more about fanaticism than actual Christianity...

Cesarean sections are very expensive in private hospitals, while government hospitals, though more affordable, often struggle with issues like negligence and bribery. May God help our country. it is well.

The only reason that makes me respect women is child birth. It’s a thin line between life and death and that always makes me love them.

Left to me as a woman, I will never get pregnant.

This can't be true. Unless it is a case of an emergency where the wife is unconscious and unable to hold a pen, a woman has the right to choose what she wants for herself and her baby.

And in the end, who will foot the medical bills? There are no public medical insurance in Nigeria oO. Someone has got to pay the bills. Seeking husbands' consent entails a lot.

When Jesus said also have the doctor by your side cos a time will come we will need them. If it was a sin why did jesus make such statements.

My wife experienced the second one though it’s not our fault sha.the pains of going to the village to bury that little baby girl in 2018 still pains me till today.I entered a supermarket along Wetheral rd owerri to buy a bigger bag to cover the baby,my friend saw me and called on phone later,telling me he saw me went on shopping spree not knowing I was carrying a dead child.May the dead rest in peace.

This is what the useless man, make my sister goes through, a Rich woman, that has everything but the selfish igbo man, deceived her that she can put to bed without CS, at the end we lost her and the baby and the man is trying to drag her property. Sad tale

If you didn't read the write-up, go and read it again. In both cases, it was their husbands making choices of death for their wives and unborn babies. Maybe due to the cost of CS operations compared to normal delivery.

Wicked men. Now they will pay more than if they had followed the doctors advice. Nowhere was religion or Pastor mentioned here.

Women, marry a financially okay guy and make your own money so that nobody will use stinginess kill you/ child

I think there should be some laws that protect women in situation like this, how can a non medical person decide the fate of an urgent medical situation. I think instead of the husband been the only one to be able to grant consent, other family members or even friends should be able offer consent. Everytime all this men that have not have serious stomach pain to go through serious excruciating pain, let alone have a baby surviving in that stomach would be saying No to CS , it is BS .. and maybe they should be a 9month insurance policy too , Incase it happens.

I guess you are being sarcastic.
CS is a Sin but other surgeries are not SIN? a person born via sin can into this world by sin abi?
a person dies in child birth means they are in heaven ?

Thank God for my life oo and government of Oyo state hospital management, that was the issue of my wife on April 1st 2025, she was in labour for 24 hours, I slept in the hospital that day, she was so much in pain, first time pregnancy for that matter, immediately it was 4 am in the morning, I called one of the nurses, and ask her what is problem, nurse said no progress baby is is big, I called the doctor, who immediately suggested CS, I did not even called our families, I signed the paper immediately, and thank God my wife is already aware of the situation, she is spiritual and physically ready for it, I made all the payment, a token of abt 85k in all, it happened in State Hospital Oyo Alafin, the CS did not even reach 45 minutes and my baby and her mother came out healthy and sound...
Infact I am inviting every Nairaland to come my house on first Sunday of July for Child dedication and celebration in my compound..

CS is not a death sentence of the healing process if properly done is not more than a month..

Sometimes the major problem is not that the husband doesn't want CS , but the fee is usually way higher than normal delivery
