If you check well, na lack of money that's at the root of all these alleged stubbornness. Surgery in Nigeria today no be small money. I feel sorry for the poor women.

When you advice women to work and have their own funds before marriage and having children, they'll not hear.
A woman with her own money will quickly pay for the cs and sign for herself and get it done.

Emergency wards don't have male and female sections. Both genders stay together. I've visited there several times to see sick relatives.

Is there a religious reason why some couples or husbands don't like CS?

When I was saying in a previous topic that giving birth was a life and death experience, one boy who had never experienced as much as a menstrual cycle before talk less of labor and delivery was telling me what I know not.

All I can say is, women, look well before you marry. Never marry a man without pity. A man who is not moved with your tears.

Me wey strong... me that can carry full bag of flour from my car booth into bakery unassisted, me that worked up till days to my delivery... see me weeping in labour room and asking my husband to help me... as if he can help me deliver...

It was simply their time to go, CS is a sin and an abnormal act in the Bible.
The husbands should be grateful to know their wife and child is in heaven.
Doctors should stop trying to play God, There are no many doctors in hell.

Have you gone to Hell before? If you haven't then you cannot prove factually where the Doctors are.

Doctors do not need consent to do whats right, otherwise their years of education is a waste. In a backward poor society such as ours, people can reject doctor's advices due to poverty and financial obligations.

You will be shocked to hear it happens in "saner climes" with over religious 9ja people.
Even when cost is not an issue, some funny mentality persists.

They want to call Daddy GO in 9ja before consenting to CS. Some want hubby, who left home 24 hours ago, going from job to job, to allow her consent.

Might be that money is the issue.

The cost of CS nowadays is quite high but there are so many families that are incredibly poor and can't afford such. They also don't attend antenatal checks, do relevant tests or take necessary medications. Some of those problems could easily be averted.
If a family can save just 1k per day for 9 months, they will almost cover the surgery fee, should it come that

Can't blame the husbands though, most times these doctors are in a hurry to carry out CS due to the money involved. My first daughter was delivered through CS, the mum was already in labour and the doctor couldn't wait for the baby to come normally before declaring it must be CS. My second was delivered naturally, without any issues. Baby and mother fine to the glory of God.

God was not foolish when he gave men wisdom of medicine. He did that for the purpose of glorifying his name.

You lack life experience my dear. I used to talk like you... unplanned circumstances can wipe out all of ones savings in the 9th month. That's a possibility. Moreover, the issue of surgery may have come up as an emergency. Maybe the men are low income earners that didn't have tons of money of saved up.

Now, assuming you are earning 100K monthly ( which used to be a reasonable amount two years ago) as a family man, no matter how you save , you can't save up enough money for a surgery in today's Nigerian economy.

The main reason is cost..
CS is very expensive..very expensive
So to most families just barely surviving..CS option isn't viable...so I don't blame the men for their decision.
Another thing..some hospitals..in a bid to make more money would recommend CS even when it's not medically necessary..they usually target first timers, whose desperation is clearly visible.
There should be a mechanism to help such people offset the medical bills incurred especially CS.
Pregnancy Insurance for once .. specifically targeted at women..to cover CS if needed would go a long way to alleviate any financial distress

Yes young people won't understand anything about marriage until they enter. No matter how you explain it, they won't understand. The funny thing is each marriage comes with different tactics.

Nothing is certain when it comes to labor...but just follow doctors advice and pray you have funds or support from somewhere.

My only issue are religious extremists who reject blood transfusion or who say they will deliver like Hebrew woman and die in the process

Who said a woman can't be operated upon without her consent??
A conscious woman does not need the validation of her husband, pastor, brother or father to have a Caesarean section, only a woman who is incapacitated does.

The level of hardship is insane! People now get to choose between food and health...its a pity.

I used to say this thing you just said but believe me, bad things can happen to anybody no matter how much you plan; I use to abuse people that allows fuel to finish in their car before refilling until it happened to me. You can plan all you want, and it gets to delivery period all the money you planed and saved for has finished before delivery. Abi no be this country that inflation is everywhere.

Except you have over 10m kept in one account, almost every man would want to exercise their options before paying over millions or above 700k for CS
