The New FIFA Club World Cup Format: What Are Our Thoughts So Far? by JohnBabatunde14(op): 3:25pm On Jun 19, 2025
So the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup has officially kicked off with 32 teams, real World Cup style.

I’ve been watching some of the games (thanks to MSport updates, they’ve been helping me keep track, and honestly, it still feels wild seeing new clubs like aka the boys rubbing shoulders with Chelsea, Man City, and PSG (the big boys)

So far on the Group fixtures, I think Real Madrid got a favorable slot with their Group H been the easiest. (well in my opinion anyway) But that said, what do we think so far with the matches played. PSG coming with the champions league euphoria, (I guess they would say trophy is a trophy lol)

Curious to know what you guys think. Is the expanded format working? Or is FIFA just experimenting on us again? Will this format affect the upcoming season?

If you’ve been watching, which clubs are standing out for you? Any upsets yet?

The FIFACWC2025 so far have been serving up surprises. Yesterday’s clash saw Atlético Madrid show themselves in the tournament with a 3-1 win over Seattle Sounders. Seattle started bright but couldn’t cope with the tempo after the break.

Speaking of surprises, Botafogo stunned PSG with a 1-0 win earlier today. Who would’ve predicted that? I personally didn't, with PSG been the street favorite in the tournament.

South American clubs are not here to joke from the look of the games already played, as they have been keeping all the big names on their ten toes lol. Meanwhile you can follow the MSportFIFACWC2025 thread on twitter to keep tabs on every game and experience live at the 2025 FIFACWC

Later today, we’ve got Bayern vs Boca Juniors and Flamengo vs Chelsea - two banger games that I am personally looking forward to. Would Chelsea be able to bounce back from their shaky start? Or will Flamengo dance samba all over them? Let's watch and see.
