This is indeed huge! At least, something positive is coming from our South Eastern compatriots. These are the kind of heartwarming news that should be emanating from them. Hitherto, it's been from one bad news to another. Let other Nigerian ethnicities emulate the example of the North Carolinian Igbos. Igbo amaka! @hotseat |

Sharpsharp00123:Tinubu is the president of Nigeria. Thaddeus attah is not the president. He is the rep of Etti Ossa. Do you even know the meaning of president? Or has it come to Tinubus time you have forgotten? This one you are talking about Thaddeus I know as usual you guys are hatching the tribal stuff against him irrespective of his performance? That’s the next thing, politics of tribe. |

Elyonboy:The Igbos in NC were honoured based on their unquantifiable and positive contributions to the development and growth of the State. For the aforementioned ethnicities to be so honoured, they have to earn it. The Igbos are a set apart people but for the ugly activities of a few of them constantly rubbing the name of the ethnic nationality in the mud. Igbo is indeed amaka! @hotseat |

Why not give these people a chance to turn Nigeria around. Why suppress them. After the civil war they had close to nothing but yet the rebuilt what was lost. Who God have blessed no man can curse” truth be told. Let’s keep hatred and jealousy aside, if not las las na we go suffer am. |

A Igbo day ( NDI tiny dot) ,good and wonderful. It should be a day of reflection on the evil of the activities of some of their fellows who are involved in shady business giving Nigeria a bad image |

Sharpsharp00123:This doesn't ring true to me. I doubt the veracity of the statement. I am not Igbo nor Yoruba, but it appears that Deeper Life and indeed every other large Christian denomination has never had any issue in getting access into any part of Nigeria. I stand to be corrected though. |

There are 574 federally recognized Indian tribes in the United States. Who are the original owners of the lands yet not a single one of them has been so recognized and given a special recognition in the name of honouring them on any particular day. I'm yet to understand why a particular tribe from Nigeria is then honoured. Probably due to thier economic contributions to the state or it's just another strategy to keep us weak as a nation so they can plunder what they can while some of us are thrown into dick measuring, ego tripping, divisions as usual etc. The problem with Africans especially Nigerians is that we have this false sense of worth and this runs across every region and ethnicity,. A sense of worth based on external factors like achievements, possessions, or others' opinions, rather than on one's intrinsic values. We crave for external validation especially when it comes from the western countries. They see it and capitalize on it. Sad to say a lot of Africans are easily manipulated and this is why we were easily dominated and colonized in the first place. Kings selling thier subjects for mirrors, candies, combs, fire power and what else was presented that thrilled them. A people given a false sense of worth and favouritism in order for them to be used as a proxy for confusion and eventual penetration and division of the whole. I bet this thread will carry loads of clashing, tribal bashing and vawulence even with all the tools Seun put in place to curb it. While it's a good thing the Igbo tribe is recognised and honoured by one American state, it is still not an achievement to be blown out of proportion or overly celebrated. Stop all these celebration of mediocrity. We are greater, stronger and we have so much work to do. And before any person with an undeveloped grey matter will tag me bitter Yoruba just know before hand I'm not. I'm just a concerned Nigerian disappointed that after many generations we still haven't learnt anything to help us evolve. |

Bentacur007:This will go well Bro, it's a plus for Nigeria as a whole. As a Yorubaman, if I where to be in Carolina at that time, I will SURELY celebrate wholeheartedly with the IGBOS. |

Nice one,let us be celebrated where we are recognized. As for some people saying why not celebrate other tribes in igbo land.No tribe has ever come out to celebrate their day and igbo leaders deprived them the right to,in enugu Amala was celebrated by both Igbos and yorubas. In igbo land we join strangers to fight our brother if he is at fault. The only thing that is not making many outsiders not to come and hustle in igbo land is because government deny igbo nation basic amenities. |

elmodee7:Edo people dey italo doing ashawo and cultism based on drug and trafficking related activities Yorubas are in UK doing sextosion, and other crimes, also trafficking drugs to Saudi Arabia, they are also in America doing drugs even in south Africa too Hausa/ fulanis are in Nigeria causing terrorism wasting human lives from day to day So are you telling me that these sets of people from these other tribes and more are not giving Nigeria bad name? Why are you people full of hate towards Igbos Well I understand the pains you go through everyday knowing how igbo tribe lost everything during the civil war but today ,they still compete with Yorubas when it comes to richest in Nigeria Forbes list top 10 What are my even saying? There are 6 igbo men that made that list and only two Yorubas named adenuga and otedola, only two of them and two hausa named dangote and rabiu of BUA group Again,I understand the hate, stop being a bigot, love your neighbor as you love yourself, crime knows no tribe. |
