Scores of bandits and vigilantes were reportedly killed in a fierce clash during a combined operation of vigilantes and soldiers around Dutsen Zaki community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

16 vigilantes, who reportedly sustained injuries in the clash are currently receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Wase town and another hospital in Bauchi State.

Dutsen Zaki is a thick forest surrounded by villages such as Zurak, Aduwa, Kinashe, and Odare in Bashar district of Wase LGA.

The latest incident occurred two weeks after security operatives and vigilantes killed five bandits in Kadil Masudu village of Wase.

Disclosing the latest development on Wednesday, Abdullahi Hussaini, a leader of the vigilantes in the area, told Daily Trust that the fight started on Saturday morning and continued until Wednesday.

He said over 300 vigilantes took the fight to the bandits’ hideout.

According to Hussaini, over 80 bandits including their wives were killed while four vigilantes also lost their live in the incident.

“We started the fight since Saturday. We are forced to face these armed men. People in around Bashar axis are no longer safe. People cannot live in their houses simply because of the fear of attack, killing and kidnapping. The activities of the armed men have become daily occurrence. That is why vigilantes are taking the fight to their hideout,” Hussaini said.

The vigilante leader further explained that the fight would continue until all the armed men leave the area, noting that

“it is not an easy task, given how the bandits have made the forest their home for so long. We have made several attempts in the past but haven’t succeeded. But this time around, we killed them and their wives. Many of them have also fled. The forest is now under our control.”

Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, also confirmed the development, saying the four vigilantes killed in the clash included a commander of the group, adding that a new commander had been appointed to continue the operation.

Abdullahi Bin Umar, a resident of one of the affected villages, confirmed the fight, saying,

“Residents of villages sharing borders with the forest have fled their communities for fear of the unknown. People are really scared about what may happen in the coming days, given the number of bandits killed.”

The spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom, had not responded to request for comment on the incident as of press time.

The fact is, the wives of these bandits are their spies. Whenever they also occupied a community, the first people they put there are their wives. You see how DSS arrested the wife & mother of Aliero in Saudi Arabia. None of them is innocent, neither their wives or children. Buhari pampered these ragtags for eight years, eight years no be joke.

Wonderful, by the time the national forest guard is fully implemented, the people will be more empowered to take control of their forest areas.

If Nigerians don't take law into their hands, they will become strangers in their own land one day. If the government can't effectively arrain any criminal with all these terrorist and criminal activities going on in the country then it is either the government doesn't want to act or they are lying for us.

Every state must emulate this action with immediate effect. No one should be allowed to stay in the bush or forest except the animals. Flush those criminals out from your border.

Clear the bush to a far distances close to river or nearby state is another solution or

Let army leave the barracks, move all barracks to back of each State close to each State border with tight technological equipment

Policing must be decentralized as soon as possible!
Central policing is no longer sustainable or effective in nigeria!

This is what every state should start doing... You either get rid of them or they kpai you.

I've said it that the day they enter my village in Imo state, I'm leaving Abuja immediately.

We don't need to buy weapons but we would launch a surprise attack on them... Then get their weapons.

Juju must work

Re: Deaths Recorded As Angry Vigilantes Flush Out Bandits From Plateau Forest by emkz:
They'd be arrested and paraded. But Tinubu had to ask the IG why no arrests had been made following the Benue attacks.

President Tinubu, if people do not feel secure, they'd resort to self-help.

Land is a very sensitive matter. People cannot raid a community, set fire on people's houses, burn children and subject citizens to a barbaric end, and almost a week after, not a single arrest. Do you remember the Ife-Modakeke crisis?

President Tinubu, you had said people should "learn to share their land". One tabloid reported that your anger towards Sanwo-Olu was that he allocated prime land in Lagos to certain individuals. If you truly believe that people should share their land, why can't Sanwo-Olu share Lagos land?

President Tinubu, there can be no peace without justice. Anyone who kills another should be arrested, tried and given the same treatment. It is only after that we can discuss peace. If those occupying the forests are bandits and occupants of communities bordering the forests fled, then we must ask the bandits why they were in the forest.

While freedom of movement is allowed, anyone who enters any community in Nigeria must register in the local community hall and must have a guarantor. He must state what he is doing there and where he'd stay. Human beings cannot come from other parts of the country and start staying in forests or occupying land without the knowledge of local authorities. It is to separate legal occupants from criminals. If people are occupying forests and cannot properly explain themselves, they are criminals.

Kudos to the joint efforts of the vigilance groups in Plateau and the Nigerian soldiers.
These bandits even had the nerve to relocate their wives and families from their original countries of origin to come and disturb the indigenous people of Nigeria in those nearby forest locations.

I'm in total support of building that border wall but using a cheaper and more durable technology like stabilized laterite bricks which is bullet and earthquake-proof to separate Nigerian porous locations from those West African Sahelian countries of Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Benin, and urgently get surveillance and weaponized drones, including the use of advanced satellite tracking systems to mow down these foreign minority Fula bandits.

The same thing was done in Lagos, Ogun and Ondo States in 2016 when some recalcitrant Ijaw crude oil thieves, who ALSO engaged in massive kidnappings of people from highbrow estates, armed robberies of homes and banks in VI and Ikoyi and raped several women, had the audacity to camp right in the heavily thick creeks of Arepo in Ogun State. It was the deployment of aerial surveillance platforms and jet fighters that finally smoked out on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari after a FIRST-CLASS Oba in Lagos State, the Oniba of Iba Kingdom was dragged out and kidnapped from his Palace with a speed boat right into the creeks of Arepo in Ogun State.

Since then, they have NEVER returned to cause mayhem like they did throughout the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency simply because they assumed that GEJ is their kinsman.

The videos of the bombings of the Ijaws who used amulets for protection but were killed in large numbers from the creeks of Arepo by the Nigerian Air Force are still online.

Soon the North will cry out that the people flushed out were not bandits but herders.

They'll swear revenge and start making all sorts of war cries but nobody heard them condemn the Benue Killings.

Funny thing is their cries are not out of genuine love for their kin...its just politics

Middle belt people should stop announcing when they engage bandits.
Just quietly bury them and move on to the next target.
Simple

These are events that are precursors to civil war.

People have lost confidence in the government's ability to maintain the peace.

Go guys go. Protect yourselves!

All over human history, people who wait for others to protect them are always conquered. Protect yourselves, people.

Take the fight to the bandits a.k.a terrorists. Enough of massacre of innocent people in their homes. The federal government should arm rural dwellers with automatic rifles, because state police is another tool for intimidation 📌👌💯
