Hello everyone,

I've been following recent discussions on this forum and have noticed a strong trend of support for Israel’s ongoing military actions against Iran. I understand that people have diverse opinions, shaped by history, politics, and security concerns. But It seems most opinion on Nairaland comments are shaped by Religion (which, if true is sad).

A quick one:
some people will attribute it to Iran shouldn't have nuclear weapon.
Have you forgetten 2003 and the Iraq war? was any weapon found?

Let’s start with the Vanunu case. In 1986, Mordechai Vanunu, an Israeli nuclear technician, revealed Israel’s secret nuclear weapons program to the British press. He was kidnapped by Mossad, secretly tried, and imprisoned for 18 years, 11 of which were in solitary confinement. Now contrast this with Iran. As of today, there is no conclusive evidence that Iran has built or possesses a nuclear weapon. Multiple IAEA inspections have verified this over the years. Yet, many in this forum seem comfortable supporting an Israeli war against Iran, seemingly justified by the assumption that Iran might eventually develop nuclear capability.

Here’s the question I keep coming back to:

Is it really about nuclear weapons, or are we selectively applying standards based on warped ideological bias?

This isn’t about supporting Iran or criticizing Israel blindly. It’s about consistency, morality, and whether we allow fear or prejudice to shape our view of justice as Nigerians.

Our current trail of thought we shape how this country goes by 2027.

Would love to hear thoughtful takes from others.

Iran is lying about moving their 60% enriched elsewhere. In 2023 IAEA determined their Underground Fordo plant was enriching to 83.3%. Uranium for safe purposes only needs to be 3.5% . For medical isotopes which I doubt Iran is researching on maybe 60%. Another purpose would be for nuclear powered naval vessels which Iran doesn't have .The only other purpose of that level of enrichment is the nuclear bomb. Let me know from you why their centrifuges can enrich uranium to more than 20%. Why they need to enrich when they can buy nuclear fuel for their power plants without the hazards of their reactors blowing up and contaminating the environment.

What exactly do you call the slaughter of tens of thousands of Palestinians, the occupation of land that doesn’t belong to them, the destruction of homes, hospitals, mosques, and entire cities? A peace mission?

Iran has every right to declare hostility toward a regime that has:
