MRS Hikes Petrol Price To ₦925 In Lagos, ₦955 In The South East by treesun(op): 4:50pm On Jun 21, 2025
MRS has raised the pump price of premium motor spirit (petrol) to N925 in Lagos, from N885 as of Friday morning.

The change in MRS petrol price came after the Dangote refinery raised the ex-depot price of the product from N825 to N880 on Friday.

According to a post on its X handle on Saturday, MRS said PMS would now go for N955 per litre in the Southeast.

In Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti, MRS customers are to buy the product at N935 a litre.

According to the post, MRS customers in the North East would buy petrol at the rate of N955 while those in the North West and North Central would pay N945 for the product.

In the post, the retail outlet asked its customers to check out its “updated pump prices across all MRS stations nationwide,” noting that the new prices became effective from today, June 21, 2025.

The PUNCH reports that MRS is one of the major distributors of Dangote refinery’s products.

It is expected that other Dangote partners like Heyden and AP will hike pump prices soon.

The PUNCH reports that importers had earlier increased their prices following the rise in crude prices.

Reacting to this on Monday, the president of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Festus Osifo, accused oil marketers of exploiting Nigerians through inflated petrol prices, insisting that the current pump price of PMS should range between N700 and N750 per litre.

He criticised the disparity between falling global crude oil prices and the stagnant retail price of petrol in Nigeria.

Why is it cheaper in South West compared to South East? Is that due to logistics or what?

Salah has ended and they have finished doing palliatives. Dangote said succinctly that they get crude from USA. May be N1k per liter again. grin grin grin grin

So why can’t he and his associates import and sell for that said amount?

We are all in it together. Thank God the price is for all citizens. Maybe those supporting Tinubu are buying their own freely. That's why I said the fight fir 2027 is not even against Tinubu. It's fight for sustainability and progress of the masses.
You that is not supporting Tinubu, how much are you supposed to be buying fuel?

Some people will soon start wailing upandan and start claiming victim mentality.

Lagos is going to be cheapest after all the refinery is in Lagos. The fuel price will progressively increase as distance increases from the refinery.

The OP is very mischievous. Why compare prices of Lagos to only south east? Why did he not compare the prices with Sokoto, and Borno that are ever further away from Lagos.

Hmmmmmm. Why the up and down in price. Just this week marketers complain of price hike when taker is still on it way to station.

They will reduce the price like 2 naira, 5 naira, 7 naira and they will propagate it to high heavens and make useless news out of nothing about it, but if they increase it , it will be like 50 naira, 120 naira,150 naira on top. Reason: crude oil price is going up because of Israeli-Iranian conflicts despite the fact that there is crude oil for naira swap deals here. Waiting for IPMAN to direct their members to jerk it up to 1k. These are the same clowns 🤡 saying this last week , that the price will be forced to 700 naira in few weeks to come because they are speaking and negotiating with foreign depot to compete with dangote. Lubbish.

Cost of transportation which is influenced by distance. SE fuel comes from Lagos, PH or Warri.

Also, the marketers also have to factor in the risk of taking products to such a volatile area into their pricing structure. Same as Borno, Jos and now Benue.

SUPPLY from local refineries have received a major boost as the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have begun preliminary production following a successful re-streaming after a nine-month phased rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in a statement yesterday in Abuja said that both plants have commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, noting that while Port Harcourt Refinery Company PHRC, is ramping up its operation to about 60 percent of its 210, 000 barrels per day name plate capacity, Warri Refinery Petroleum Company WRPC, production is projected to hit 80 percent of its installed 125, 000 bpd capacity.

Meanwhile, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has closed down 22 filling stations in Abuja and environs for undue profiteering. 19 of them were sealed for selling above N87.00 per litre, while two were shut down for diversion of petroleum products and one was caught grossly under-dispensing and selling products massively in jerry cans.
DPR stated that the stations would remain sealed for at least one month in addition to forfeiting their bridging claims as directed by the Federal Government.

NNPC added that the Port Harcourt Refinery is projected to boost the nation’s local refining capacity with a product yield of 5million litres of petrol per day while WRPC would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol to local refining capacity.
