And there's nothing wrong with that decision. Other leagues should also get representation. Liverpool and others should win the champions league if they want Automatic qualifications.

UEFA didn't hand City and Chelsea anything. City and Chelsea both earned their appearance in this competition by winning UCL at least once in the last 4 years. As it is PSG, Cruz Azul and other teams from other continents that have won their continental cups this season have already qualified for the 2029 edition.

As for Barca, Liverpool and Napoli, you're right. They said they used coefficients for the last 4 years to fill the rest of the slots for teams from Europe so I dont know how Salzburg, Benfica and Porto qualify ahead of those teams. Even United is higher on coefficient ahead of Salzburg

Two clubs from each league only. City and Chelsea already qualified so no English team is allowed anymore. Madrid qualified by winning the champions league and Athletico Madrid were higher than Barca in coefficient so they qualified. If your league quota is already filled the next league in the coefficient table gets the next spot.

Oh. I didn't know they were using a two clubs per league metric. And honestly it doesn't make sense. 4 of the 6 South American teams are from Brazil and 3 of those 4 are topping their groups meanwhile UEFA decided to leave Barca and Liverpool at home for Salzburg and Porto. Weird decision.

Anyhow, there will be 48 teams competing in 2029 so more teams from each league should be qualifying unless they want to go and be picking teams from Belgium and Greece
