Governor Alex Otti has provided clarity on his recent remark about adopting the development template of former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu in rebuilding Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State.

Speaking during his monthly media chat “Governor Alex Otti Speaks To Abians”, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Umuahia, the Governor was responding to a question from journalist Ifeanyi Okali of ABN TV. Okali had asked whether Otti’s preference for Kalu’s model implied that the governance templates of Chief Theodore Orji and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu were not viable enough to be considered.

Governor Otti explained that his reference to Kalu's approach was strategic and contextual.

“When Orji Kalu became governor in 1999, he focused heavily on Aba because of its revenue-generating capacity. He understood that getting Aba right would make it easier to fix the rest of the state. That’s exactly the principle we are following,” Otti stated.

He added that his administration’s policies are guided by economic logic, not political sentiment. “It is about results, not personalities. We chose to face Aba first because that’s where the economic heart of the state lies,” he said.

People in Other Rejoins in Abia see Aba as same With Lagos so almost every Family have a Relation doing business in Aba.. Also Note All other Regions do not have A Plane land

Only Enyimba City have a Plane land in whole of Igbo .. so it very easy to focus on Aba n expand it .. only 30% of Aba is in use.. from Coca cola to Obigbo is Empty

Tell your governor to report that for us, you are not his spoke person. What he told us on this thread is what I commented on? Other towns and cities in Abia voted for him, after half-time he is still only in Aba when match is about to end. He should brim with fresh idea on how to turn other none economic viable towns to income generating towns. Development should be from bottom to top, and not just stick to only one place after two years

When there is no viable economic blue print, there is no way those places will not be empty, but must he continue to make those places become more emptier by neglecting them to total abandonment after half-time match? We expected from bottom to top approach in his approach to governance, it is not only Aba that voted for him. Even if they are only 100 in other town, he should brim with fresh idea to turn them to pilgrimage center in short time for economic revival

Governor Otti, please distance yourself from orji uzoh kalu otherwise he will rubbish your good image.
Orji uzoh kalu was a colossal failure in Abia so I don't his template that you are using.
He will not bring anything good to your name and prospective re- election

Brown roof guy! I think Oyo needs most of its village towns like ogbomoso, Oyo etc upgraded like Aba. Ibadan may need a lot of pulling down 80% of the city to bring it to a city level

If Oyo never eat and belleful, how can Oyo generate excess that is shared to feed Abia state? Oyo generates more money than she collects, but Abia collects more money than it generates. It implies, Oyo eat belleful enough from her brown roof and still feed Abia state without brown roof. So, Abia should learn strategy from brown room Oyo economy so that Abia can be able to feed well without telling on government allocation or Vat sharing formular to survive. Abia shouldn't just use money received from brown roof Oyo to concentrate only on Aba because Aba citizens are not the only ones that voted for him. Where is the effect of campaign slogan effect of bottom to top in developmental strategy of Abia now?

I am one of them that used to appreciate this governor when he does right or takes right step, in regarding his latest talk on using 1999 template (when there was no AI, no TikTok and internet was not even stable then in Nigeria) for 2025 Abia template is wrong, he should rather modify the template for better upgrade. That 1999 formular, may not work well as 2025 Abia strategic developmental template
