You haven't been following global events.
It's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of whether Russia itself is capable. Make no mistake, Russia has no defense pact with Iran and is already bogged down in Ukraine after over 3 years of war that was designed never to take more than one year at a max.
Syria is a perfect example. What did Russia do to help Assad. Absolutely nothing substantial. It can't help Iran too even if it wants to.

The aim of the war is not to decimate Iran. It is to end the nuclear production and end the current regime. That is why US and Israel carry out precision strikes not aimed at the civilians. Iran on the other hand have poor intelligence gathering so they resort to bombing civilians. Russia can only support with logistics but in a very careful manner cos they still have a war to fight. They have lost a lot of men and equipment in the war with Ukraine. Saudi is happy with the developments. They are working low-key with Mossad to ensure Ayatollah is taken out.
