Then you need to leave...travel down to a low cost city where U don't get to spend more on rent and buy a small piece of land for farming - yam, potatoes, water melon sells ...and then sell to the main city in that state.

With time you can get a wife in that area ...and have a family

#5m is good for a start in Nigeria. Depending on where you marry from, marriage will take 1/3 of that money, but get married cos you are already late. After the marriage, don't have kids immediately; give yourself 2 years. By that time, you should have stabilized, (all things being equal), but marry someone who is eager to build life with you.

If you want to japa to New Zealand, #5m is too small. And don't forget, you will need quite sometime to settle in, except you have a skill that will help you. If I were you, I will stay in Nigeria and work with what I have left after my marriage. I wish you all the best 🙏

Put that 5 million in treasury bills, collect the interest upfront to use as upkeep and go learn a biz or trade for 1 year as an apprentice or sales person.
Don't touch that money, if that's all you have to start life afresh at 40.
5 million is this economy will only make you feel rich for some months if it's not regenerating.

Use the interest from the treasury bill take start business that grow that business with all your might for one year, and when you collect the 5m back use 3m buy another land,( just in case you make another mistake for life that 3million naira land go don appreciate again) then invest 1.5 into the business that you are growing , now you have your land back, a striving business and a bit ok apartment in the space of 2 to 3 years

You have great options in 9ja.

1. Start mini importation business.
Buy goods like clothes, shoes, slippers or anything else from china and resell in 9ja.
You just need a reliable supplier from online. No need to go to China.
If you're scared as this is your first try. I can sell goods to you at wholesale price and you can resell.

2. Start broiler farming. Very lucrative business. Just look around for live chicken markets and supply to those reseller or supply to restaurants.

OP if I were you which I ain’t but this is my honest opinion, don’t day dream about living your best life yet, stay frugal, leave below your standards or money in your account, meanwhile, find a niche that’s profitable, apprentice in that niche’ for a year, meanwhile Buy into Tbills or Bonds with 4m and be receiving 40k returns until it’s maturity in 365 days, keep 1 million for your daily expenses, use the 4m to begin life after your apprenticeship, this keeps you busy, goal oriented, focused and maybe along the line you meet some pretty ass girl to spend the rest of your life with but it’s your choice

Hey man, I get where you’re coming from. ₦5 million might not sound like a lot, but trust me, it’s solid, especially if you use it wisely. That said, New Zealand? Bro, that’s a nice dream, but to be honest, ₦5 million won’t get you very far if you're thinking of relocating there legally for work or residency. Visa fees, flights, and proof of funds alone would eat most of it up.

I suggest you focus on what you can build here. ₦5 million can do wonders if you're disciplined and clear-headed. You don’t need to go all in, start with half of it. Something skill-based might be your best bet; barbing, shoe making, fashion, repairs... you know what you're good at. Play to your strengths.

And about being 40 with no wife or kids, honestly, it’s not the end of the world. But if having a family is something you want, maybe start thinking in that direction. You can even make a baby with your girlfriend based on mutual understanding while pending the marriage plans. Just make sure your finances are in order first, no need to jump in without a steady income.

In short, if you ask me, I'll say this is your chance to reset and build something real. Be smart about it, and you’ll be just fine.

Am in my store currently and I take home ₦1m ➕ monthly after every expenses

they didn't pay me to advertise them though but I've not had problems with all the excessive charges and too many sms alert charges, back then, I was getting over 400 naira as SMS charge for a month but this one, nothing like that, only 5naira to transfer any amount and they even give you 3% when you recharge or pay certain bills.

Get married and start a business here.5 million naira is nothing. You might even travel later in future with your family. Stay here buddy

What is 5M? 5M is nothing when it comes to travelling out of Nigeria. Go into business in Nigeria.

Don't make the mistake of starting a new business you don't have experience in. You're not going to do trial and error with 5m. If you're to start a business, lock that 5m in fixed deposit or something and learn the business from scratch till you get experienced in it.
Remember the cost of business is not just goods and services.

Back to New Zealand, 5m can take you there if you have your POF sorted out already. However you need to know you'll spend on flight, accommodation and upkeep in your first months before you get a seasonal job.
At 40 years with nothing to show for it, you need to work on yourself to achieve something one at a time. New Zealand offers you that opportunity. Go to a New environment, work hard and save more money, work towards getting a PR and better employment, marry there and start a family.
You will need more than 5 million unless you can adapt within budget which I doubt you can.
Be warned, no follow Travel Agent mouth go waste 5 million for Short term travel visa stamp. If you do that, you need to find money for other expenses. If you must travel, let it be genuine and do it yourself to save costs.

However if you decide to do business, keep that money, go to another cheaper location and learn a good business from scratch for at least a year to know the good and bad. You may think 5m is big but it's not when you start doing expenses.

5million is too small for New Zealand. Only flight ticket is around 4 to 4.5 million naira. Because it's a far distant country sharing borders with Australia. Depending on the area you are located. If you are around Lagos-Ogun axis, kindly visit either Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone or Lekki Free Zone. These two free Trade Zones have the largest numbers of companies lumped up on a single unit of land mass in Nigeria. In other words, there are many companies producing different types of items in those two Zones I mentioned for which you can start with any of the companies as a distributor with the 5million in your hand. If you can do this wisely, you will certainly be counting in multiple millions in no distant time and even forget relocation agenda

Bro remember this is land money we are talking about here, before you use that money for business, go and buy a goat, call your people let them help you appease your ancestors and also let them (Ancestors) know what you want to do with the money and ask for their blessings, and also promise to buy more lands when things starts moving well.

Come to Kano. Go to new area and buy two plots of land at 1m each. You get a big house at one of the villages at not more than 200,000 per annum rent, then you invest in poultry and goat and sheep farming in the premises. After a year, your worth will double then you can marry a Fulani girl if you enjoy your stay in that village. Remember there are several foodstuffs cheaper in the north that you will be taking to the South to sell occasionally especially Onion, and your dairy products. Security wise you are safe, forget about media hype and ethnic profiling.

Guy you need to change your orientation fast before you waste that money. Wasting it will automatically brings you depression.

Totally erase that thought of travelling abroad with that coins you holding called 5miilion.

If you're in a good relationship with a serious woman..go ahead to engage her in a low key traditional wedding that will not cost you more than 300k-400k. I say this because of your age...

Get house apartment in an area where you can set up a small business. The house fee and the interior properties should not cost you more than 700k-800k.

There are many small scale businesses you can do in any environment that can be fetching you daily 10k-15k at least.
Study the chosen area and know what they need there. The remaining 3.5million will do a good small scale business in any environment in Nigeria.

Don't waste that money on travelling to anywhere.
