Since the war between Iran and Israel broke out, I have been hearing of how air defense system were able to intercept missiles fired by the other countries. The question that came into my mind was does Nigeria possess such mechanism in case of any eventuality?

Joker Nigeria that hasn't got bullet proof vests for soldiers is not expected to have an air defense system. The corruption makes such impossible

We have Roland missile airdef system in place but they are archaic and can't work against any modern fighter jet , the acquisition range and kill range is very very poor , about 5kms and can only track one aircraft at a time , Modern fighters will strike form 100kms away

While prayer warriors do have their role to play in the interception of incoming ballistic or nuclear missiles, it is the Voodoo witchdoctors known affectionately as Babalawos, who will be called upon as the first line of defense in the event of war outbreak.

We don't have really , what we have on ground are cold war era Roland missiles and that's like not even having anything...we don't even have military radar coverage of the country.. Well I have information that we are working on getting Skyguard air defense system from China but don't know when that will happen

We might have one or two short range defense system but I don't think we have any medium range and long range defense system

Nigeria is a failure in all ramification it should not be a country.

Our leaders are wicked animals they visit decent countries see the good system and don't even have the motivation to replicate it here. All they do is steal and share till they bankrupt the country no consideration for future generations.

Iran military is much powerful than Nigeria times 100 but Israel killed most of their top commanders within 24 hours, it means if Israel decided tomorrow to deal with Nigeria they can come to Nigeria and decimate our army within 1 hours even Tinubu can easily be eliminated inside Aso rock.

For them to reach: there have to be different countries they will stop for refueling then take off again till they arrive at the designated destination.


If those other countries don't permit them to land and refill their tanks, they can't make it.

Every country worth its salt has billions of dollars of investments In Nigeria, plus planned investments, from China to Russia to even Iran!

If we are talking of military ranking, Nigeria is 3rd in Africa after Egypt and Algeria.

In fact we’re 2nd. It’s not fair to add Egypt because they are heavily funded and armed by the US as a counterweight to Iran etc in that region.

Nigeria ranks a very respectable 31st on Earth, out of a world of 202 countries.

The military does not spend money on equipment for which there is no rationale.

Nigerian military spends big money on armoured carriers and such equipment for its most pressing issues - terrorists.

Iran military spends big money on air defence systems because her own problems are different from our own. She is facing Israel. Enemies.

Pakistan spends big on air defence systems because of India with whom they have endless problems.

But you can bet that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh next door to Pakistan Don’t have any big “air defence systems”.

Why? Because they have no threat or enemies to expect a cruise missile attack from.

So military equipment procurement is not about ‘bragging rights’, you children.

It’s about strategic procurement based on your current threats.
