Mojimade:Hello, the previous post from funkyy598 is well appreciated especially “ and not get carried away with the 3 years pgwp becos time run fast in Canada ”. This is a guideline for everybody. Regarding your next visitor’s visa application, considering your spouse is still a student, and he is expected to work 20 hours a week or so, it would be standard for the funds to be in your account except there is a lot of funds in his account. This would show your are capable for your expenses for that visit and would not further strain his remaining financial responsibilities towards his studies. Try to show your source of income and let it be detailed. This would prove how you got the funds. Also, be emotional in you LOE and let the officer know how much seeing your spouse for this short term means to you. All these points are just my own opinion. All the best! |

Mojimade:Firstly, do not indicate a 4-month stay on your visitor visa application. A shorter duration such as 15 days during the Christmas and New Year holiday is more reasonable and advisable while applying now and staying xmas holiday as reason do not mean the visa cannot be issue sooner and If you are truly well-established in your home country, it would be unusual to take a 4-month trip abroad simply for a visit away from work etc , as this may raise concerns about your intent to return and if you truly well established at home. Additionally, consider your husband’s current situation. He has been in Canada for over a year and is currently studying. As a student, he is only permitted to work up to 24 hours per week. A visa officer may question how he can financially sponsor your visit especially for an extended stay given these limitations. If you plan to submit his bank statement, it is crucial to clearly explain the source of the funds in the letter of invitation, particularly if the funds are not earned in Canada. If your husband cannot demonstrate sufficient financial capacity, it is advisable to include the following supporting documents: His proof of enrolment, tuition payment receipts, and expected program completion date; A letter of invitation and proof of accommodation; His bank statement, along with your own bank statement, to show combined or additional financial strength. Most importantly, emphasize your strong ties to Nigeria, such as: A valid employment letter; Your bank statement showing financial stability; Property documents (if available); Any family responsibilities or ongoing commitments that demonstrate your intent to return after your visit. You should also ensure that the employment details you provide are consistent with those used in your previous student visa application. Consistency is crucial ,any conflicting information or discrepancies in your work history or application could be considered misrepresentation, which can seriously affect the outcome of your application. |

Mojimade:To be sincere with you Applying for a visitor visa is not the way forward. That is a visa processing that pass through more scrutiny than even study visa. Funky first advice is the way forward |

Mojimade:With three student visa refusals on record, securing a visitor visa may not be easy but you can still try. That said, I strongly recommend that you focus on the Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) route instead. It's a more strategic and long-term pathway. You and your husband should also begin planning toward permanent residency (PR) now. I currently live in Ontario, and I can tell you firsthand that many international students here are feeling confused, anxious, and uncertain about the future . A lot of them lack a clear direction. It’s important to look beyond social media and influencer narratives many of the real challenges people are facing aren’t openly discussed. Some are silently struggling behind closed doors. PR allocations have been reduced, and many provincial nomination programs (PNPs) are being scaled back as the government works to lower overall immigration numbers. For you to qualify for a SOWP, your husband will need to secure a job ( teer 0,1,2,3)after graduation and in the current climate, finding a job is not easy. So please, plan wisely and prepare realistically. i wish you and your spouse all the best. |

yoyome20:I just tracked my application using this link you dropped here and these screenshots are what it is showing. Please I will like you to explain to me what that means. Thank you.

Fokus12347:Hello, this link only shows you the status of your application. From this, your application was closed in March, which was the last update, and eligibility is complete. Now, from the link, we cannot tell if you were refused or banned. But, you were not approved, as you would see your visa number and expiration dates on this link, but nothing is there. At this point, you need to confront your agent about what type of refusal was given I hope it is not that you have been banned, because this decision came in since March, so the application is closed. At this point, please apply for your GCMS note so you can see the reason for the refusal. This is why he is not replying to you; your case is closed, so the only way to know what is going on is to either contact him again or request the note. |

yoyome20:Thank you. What about the one showing “Background verification; In progress”. What does that mean? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by yoyome20: 7:47pm On Jun 22, 2025 |
Fokus12347:Most times, background verification remains like that even after a decision has been taken; what is most important is your status update, which says -Closed, and your eligibility, which says - Complete. So the next step is to get your GCMS note that will explain all to you, and the sooner you apply for it, the better, cos it takes like a month to get. |

hayyawithme:That place you planning to APPLY for the Canada visa is a wrong location as a Nigerian . They often refuse people with the same excuse atleast l know more than 7 people : 'Your immigration status outside your country of nationality or habitual residence.' Most people from that region come back to Nigeria to apply. That's what happened to my cousin too. . He's working in Dubai with a work visa and a well-paying job, but despite having travelled to Spain, France, and Ireland before, they still refused him but his friend in Nigeria with same travel experience got visa approved.I WISH you good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply. So you are advising that it is better that we come back to Nigeria to apply? Can't we apply from our using all our Nigeria information? However, one of our family friends in Qatar wants to apply from Qatar also, she said I should ask if she and her family also stands the chances of getting the visa should the apply from Qatar? |

sparrow76:Using a company to sponsor a tourist or family visit is a weak justification and often leads to refusal.A company is a separate legal entity, established to conduct business and generate profit —not to fund personal or leisure trips. Even if you are the owner, immigration officers view such sponsorships with suspicion because they blur the line between personal expenses and business operations. Unless the visit directly relates to business objectives (e.g., attending a conference, meeting clients), using a company to justify a pleasure trip raises red flags and can result in visa denial. |
