Hey everyone. This is Derick. I have a daughter who is a reputed Psychiatrist. She has always been my little princess, and recently she got a new boyfriend whom I don’t like. It’s not like I have a prejudice or something; it’s just the way he looks at my youngest daughter that makes me feel weird. I tried talking to my wife, but she brushed my concerns aside as paranoid. As a father, I am worried about both my daughters and just looking out for them. Should I talk to my daughter or confront him directly? Any opinions?

Do not doubt your intuition. Your gut is your first and most reliable guide in life. Call your daughter aside.

Please do not ignore your gut feeling or instints! Talk to your daughter the psychiatrist and lay it out for her candidly, if she's not willing to listen by all means confront the boyfriend and go as hard as you need to in that conversation.

I have watched enough true crime stories/documentaries to know that instints like yours should never be overlooked. The guy may be a paedophile, rapist or a former sex offender. More so if you/your family reside in the US of A, it's a sick society full of sick people.

Reminds me of my father, the man is almost always looking for a reason to have issues with my husband... He even tried to persuade me into convincing my husband to move close to home because this man just doesn't want to let go of me... He's struggling to accept that his little girl is now a grown woman and another man has now taken over.

Mind you, my husband has never been abusive towards me or anything like that and he's respectful... My father is just being paranoid and overprotective... But he's slowly starting to accept him... In the beginning, he was complaining that I was too young to get married despite me being in my 20s...

Talk to your daughter about your concerns. She is a psychiatrist, as you claim, and should be able to understand the situation. 🤔

Talk to your daughter though she would not listen. At least the records would show that you said it before it happened
