hayyawithme:From my observation, the Canadian embassy is notorious for refusing visa applications from Nigerians applying from places like Qatar, Dubai, oman, kuwait etc., unless the trip is work-related or the applicant already holds a valid U.S. visa or strong mutii eu visas .You can still try your luck, but the statistics are not in your favour. |

sparrow76:This is just my humble opinion, and of course, the GCMS notes will provide more clarity. From what I can gather, the visa officer may have doubts about your intention to return, possibly for the following reasons: You mentioned your company was sponsoring a 7-day vacation to visit your mum. As others have pointed out, this might raise questions—why would your employer fund a personal family visit? Did you submit supporting documents like your payslip or a bank statement showing your monthly income, along with how you were able to save up the 15 million in your account? These are likely the kinds of questions the visa officer would be considering too. Did you include a letter of invitation from your mum? And did you provide evidence of your relationship and explain why you’re visiting her? What ties do you have to your home country, and did you clearly demonstrate those? I’m still learning too, and I’m sharing this based on what I’ve picked up here and from mistakes I’ve personally made. Hopefully, once you receive the GCMS notes, you’ll have a clearer idea of what to adjust if you decide to reapply. |

To be honest, I think these guys are just refusing applications for the sake of it, also because of the pressure in social amenities. I applied for my wife and daughter to visit me in Canada (I am an international student). We demonstrated strong ties my wife has to Nigeria. She has 2 jobs (full time and part time), we submitted all employment letters, even submitted an introduction letter from her full time employer saying they are aware of her trip and granted her leave for the period. We submitted my wife's land documents. My wife helps her aged mother to manage her residential property and we submitted legal documents for this too. Even submitted investment agreement letter for a business she has investments in in Nigeria and birth certificates and photos of my wife and her siblings in Nigeria. Still the application was refused. They said her assets and financial situation isn't enough for the trip. They also said she is not financially established in her home country. My wife earns 1m monthly, submitted bank statement with over 16m. I submitted my own statement with over 7m too. And we submitted documents to show how the funds were gotten, payslips, invoices etc. The second reason is that she 'has significant ties to Canada'. That second reason didn't make sense to me because it's because of the ties she has to Canada that she applied for the Visa in the first place, does that disqualify her? Even when she has significant ties to Nigeria. This people matter tire person honestly. We have applied for GCMS note sha. Waiting to see what it says yoyome20: |

May God shower you with blessings. You just opened my eyes on my mistakes. I do not take your intelligent response for granted. I appreciate you so much. I will think about this and work on these loopholes and Correct where needed before replying. orjohn24: |

Thank you. Another issue I'm looking is that my mom is on Temporary Residence because she recently won her asylum: although she is undergoing medication prior to her arrival to Canada. She crossed from United States to Canada before applying for asylum. Her health made her unfit to work. The letter I submitted was from her Doctor in Canada that I need to visit her. orjohn24: |

sparrow76:Your mom being an asylum seeker finished your chances. It’s simple they’ll think you’ll do same. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Milito: 9:02pm On Jun 24, 2025 |
jayciekey:Well, according to the thinking of visa officials, you are a significant tie and motivation for them to land over there and file asylum. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by oluayebenz: 9:27pm On Jun 24, 2025 |
Debbieeeeeee:I don't know who advised her to mention her mom in the application but sorry, I don't think IRCC will ever give her any chance again.... It's recorded 🤔 |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by orjohn24: 9:35pm On Jun 24, 2025 |
sparrow76:Firstly, she is not even a permanent resident yet and she is already becoming a burden on the government. Visa officers likely see you as a potential asylum seeker, and to avoid adding another one , you will most likely continue to face refusals at least until she becomes a permanent resident in about 2 to 3 years, or a working-class citizen in around 5 years .I sincerely wish you good luck. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Debbieeeeeee: 11:50pm On Jun 24, 2025 |
oluayebenz:Given his mother's status and standing in Canada, he should never have mentioned her in the application. It was a significant mistake that could have been avoided had he known better. The Canadian government is already overwhelmed by asylum seekers, and they certainly don't need more. |

As we are planning to visit Canada by December during the school holiday, what is the best time to submit our visa application? I am planning to submit by the end of July. |

hayyawithme:I believe the best time is now. The Canada people are unpredictable, some applications are treated speedily while some others may take time. By the way, this your username is the name of the Qatar app.I once used it to process a visit and it was seamless, approval came in no time. The following year, I wanted to use it again and applied, the approval never came! I was already in Europe as I planned the stopover on my return, I was almost stranded as they refused to board me, I had to cough out extra money to quickly change my flight itinerary before check-in closes to cut out my supposed Doha stop over groove. Do you know if they have started approving Nigerians again on the app? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by yoyome20: 11:18am On Jun 25, 2025 |
Milito:For Doha, you can no longer apply on the website. When I did mine, I used a registered Discover Qatar travel agent. She booked the ticket, which you must pay for. With a confirmed ticket, they will process your visa and hotel together, and you must pay for all of them in advance. took about 4 days, and it was issued. |

A friend of mine recently completed his thumbprint for a work visa. The stated processing time is 114 days. Does it always take the full 114 days, or could it be approved earlier? Thank you |

@ Yoyome, Please, which Doha agent did you use? Were you given the visa after booking the flight ticket? If your visa was refused, what was the reason for the refusal? How much was in your account balance? Please throw as much light as you can please |

| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by amnotapervert(m): 6:03pm On Jun 25, 2025 |
Aliyumichika:Please ask your friend’s Facebook agent the following questions: What type of work permit is it — an open work permit or a closed work permit? I am 100% sure the agent will not answer this question clearly. Did the agent mention what job it is for? Did your friend have any job interview? Did the agent provide the LMIA number used to obtain the work permit? What does the application number start with? Here’s an example of common prefixes: Visitor: V123456789 Citizenship: C123456789 Work Permit: W993830598 Economic Class: E099977028 Remember, an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is very much like the UK’s Certificate of Sponsorship (COS). The average illegal cost of obtaining an LMIA can be as high as $15,000 CAD. Here’s the bitter truth: Nigerian Facebook visa agents have been running a big business of selling fake work visa packages. In reality, many are just submitting visitor visa applications with falsified documents. This has caused many people to be banned from Canada — often without their knowledge — while jumping from one visa agent to another. What your friend needs to ask the Facebook agent: 1. Who is the employer? 2. What is the LMIA number? (It’s a 7‑digit number, usually starting with an 8.) 3. Is the LMIA for an open work permit or a closed work permit? 4. What is the LMIA’s duration? Currently, it must be for 6 months, as the Government has stopped issuing 1‑year LMIA approvals for certain jobs. If the agent lies or ignores these questions, that’s an immediate red flag. Process of obtaining work visa Employer applies for LMIA ➔ Gets LMIA ➔ Gives LMIA + Job Offer to You ➔ You Apply for a Work Permit ➔ IRCC Approves ➔ You Get the 6 months Work Permit ➔ Travel and Begin Working in Canada |
