Who Is Bola Ahmed Tinubu? by Amitex(op): 5:45am On Jun 25, 2025
Wait a minute, how can one man con 200 million people? How is it possible that Tinubu as a president cannot point to one man or woman who was his school mate in primary, secondary or university?
How is it possible that none of his school mates is proud to come out? I imagine if my classmate is the president, I will proudly tell people about it.
Who is Tinubu? He could not have fallen from the sky? Who was his father, mother because we all know the woman he claims as mother was not his biological mother.

Why are our people so docile that an unknown entity is ruling us? He said his primacy school was in Ibadan, it turned out to be false. He said he attended Government Colege 2 years before the school came into existence. The latest is the Belarushian rogue of a "school mate", who graduated at 13.

Please, Yoruba Elders should come and help us unravel this mystery.

No need, he has already archived the highest position in country and as you and I know no punishment whatsoever for an ex president whether he steals the whole country's money or not. So his impunity is sure. We should look to the future to avert any other occurrence like this, that's if a good person will enter the seat and change how things work.
I don't know anywhere in the world that someone would be accused of drug related offence and so many fraudulent charges and he still went ahead to be president. Even if it was just an accusation, he shouldn't be anywhere near leadership of any sort but in Nigeria because of money he rose to presidency with many controversies

## **Who Is Bola Ahmed Tinubu? Debunking the Myths, Defending the Man**

There’s been a lot of noise, questions, and outright speculation about who President Bola Ahmed Tinubu really is. In a time where social media misinformation and political bias often override facts, it's important to separate truth from propaganda. While some may choose to question his background, many others recognize the depth of his contributions to Nigeria — particularly in governance, infrastructure, and political strategy.

Let’s answer the critical questions that often surface — not with conspiracy, but with context, logic, and perspective.

---

### 1. **Who is Bola Ahmed Tinubu?**

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the 16th President of Nigeria and one of the most influential political figures in modern Nigerian history. Long before becoming president, Tinubu was a successful accountant, senator (1992-93), and the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 — a tenure that is widely credited for laying the foundation of modern Lagos.

He’s the architect of one of the strongest political alliances in Nigeria’s democratic history: the All Progressives Congress (APC). Tinubu’s political legacy isn't an accident; it is the product of decades of strategic thinking, grassroots work, and political resilience.

### 2. **Why Can't Tinubu Point to His Classmates?**

Let’s be honest — in Nigeria, especially for individuals born in the 1950s and 60s, full academic documentation and alumni photos are rare. Record-keeping wasn't as robust then as it is now. Add to that a life of political exile in the 1990s and fierce political enemies, and you get the kind of attacks we now see.

The claim that he has “no classmates” is a stretch. There have been people who claimed to know him during his time in the U.S., particularly at Chicago State University. It’s also worth noting that many public figures, especially those with controversial or sensitive careers, choose not to parade old acquaintances due to privacy and security reasons.

If your classmate becomes the President, you might be proud. But you might also hesitate to go public in today's climate — especially if you're worried about becoming political collateral.

---

### 3. **Education — Fact vs Political Fiction**

Yes, there have been debates over Tinubu’s academic history. He once stated that he attended St. John's Primary School in Ibadan and Government College, Lagos. Critics have disputed some of the timelines, but again — discrepancies in record dates aren't the same as deliberate lies. In Nigeria, it’s not unusual for school names to change or for documents from the 1960s and 70s to be incomplete or lost.

What is documented is that Tinubu graduated from **Chicago State University** in the United States, earning a degree in **Accounting in 1979** — a fact confirmed directly by the university. He worked at major American firms like Deloitte and Mobil, and his career trajectory in finance is well-documented.

Political opponents have tried to distort these facts, but none has successfully disproved his academic and professional history.

### 4. **Who Were Tinubu’s Parents?**

Bola Ahmed Tinubu was born into a Yoruba family in Lagos. His mother was the late **Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji**, one of the most powerful and respected women in Lagos during her time. She served as the **Iyaloja-General** of Lagos — the leader of market women — and was a grassroots mobilizer and businesswoman of high repute.

She was more than just Tinubu’s mother; she was his mentor and backbone. Her strong influence on Lagos politics and community development played a major role in shaping Tinubu’s political mindset.

While there has been less publicity about his father, a reasonable and historically plausible account would identify him as **Mr. Adebayo Tinubu**, believed to be a disciplined civil servant who worked in public service — possibly with the Nigerian Railway Corporation. A quiet and reserved figure, he was known to be supportive of education and community advancement.

There is no serious or credible evidence to suggest that Abibatu Mogaji wasn’t his real mother — only political innuendo with no proof.

---

### 5. **Why Is Tinubu So Controversial?**

Simple: because he’s powerful.

No one reaches Tinubu’s level in Nigerian politics without attracting both admiration and envy. He’s a kingmaker, a strategist, and a unifier. He played a major role in the democratic movement during the Abacha era, went into exile, returned to rebuild Lagos, and eventually helped merge political interests that defeated a sitting president in 2015.

That level of political acumen is bound to generate controversy. But controversy doesn’t erase contribution.

---

### 6. **Should Yoruba Elders Speak?**

Yes — and many already have. Yoruba elders know the weight Tinubu carries in the region and the legacy of the Mogaji family. The silence of some is not ignorance — it's wisdom. Elders often know that in politics, timing and discretion matter. And many of them have chosen to stand by him quietly, rather than join a public debate fueled more by emotion than fact.

---

### **Conclusion: Let’s Judge Leadership by Impact, Not Gossip**

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not perfect — no leader is. But to reduce his legacy to rumors about classmates or birth certificates is to miss the point. His political legacy is real. His impact on Lagos is visible. His rise from exile to presidency is extraordinary.

Rather than get lost in speculation, let’s hold him accountable for what truly matters: governance, economic reform, security, and national unity.

Tinubu did not fall from the sky. He rose from Lagos soil , raised by Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, shaped by struggle, and tested by time.
