Many of them are obviously just there to make up the numbers.

All parties have their Protem National Chairmen and Secretaries as released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It is time to ask political parties to contribute to conducting elections.

A first step. To register a political party should require 500 million naira registration fee. If a party can gather 100,000 members contributing 5,000 naira, they'd meet up.

If a political party is fielding a candidate for presidential elections, they must contribute 250 million for printing their logo on the ballot. They must also co tribute to logistics and deposit party agents fees with INEC. All party agents must be registered with INEC. That way, the incidence where someone in one party sat on party collation funds will end. Any party that doesn't send agents forfeits their deposit.

Finally, let all parties pay party licensing fees every two years. It can be like 100 million naira. No party must field a candidate if it has not existed for two years.

Since the political industry is now the in-thing, we can as well regulate it.

Waste of resources. Nigeria is not a serious country at the moment. What do we need many parties for? Let us take a political glance at the country that we copied the so called democracy from and tell ourselves the home truth if we are honestly practicing true democracy in this country that is govern by drug barons, certificate forgers, touts and agberos of all types and kinds.

They should all merge together to form one big political party. That's the only way to unseat the inccubent party. Sense too far from some people

Don't you know once registered, they are entitled to certain amount of money called mobilization funds.
Most of these ones are after that money from the FG...once they received alert, they ceased to exist.

It would contravene the very essence of democracy and the fundamental right to freedom of association as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The late Gani Fawehinmi fought all the way to the Supreme Court to ensure that INEC allowed the registration of multiple political parties. I suggest you get a copy of that judgment for your perusal.
