2027: I Won’t Support Tinubu If He Drops Shettima – Sheik Jingir by ogododo(op): 7:52pm On Jun 25, 2025
Spiritual leader and National Chairman, Ulam’u Council of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheik Sani Yahaya Jingir, has declared that he wouldn’t support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election if the president drops Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Sheik Jingir disclosed this during a religious event at the Yantaya Mosque in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Daily Trust reports that Sheik Jingir supported President Tinubu’s election in 2023 and urged his followers to do likewise.

Our correspondent reports that there ae speculations within the APC the vice president’s fate is hanging in the balance.

Responding on recent development in the APC, the spiritual leader said, “I have learnt that some unpatriotic people within and outside the APC have been making efforts to destroy Tinubu’s relationship and Shettima to achieve their surreptitious goals. That is not a welcome development, president Tinubu.

“Myself and others around me supported Tinubu and Shettima, and we’re backing your joint ticket. Any attempt to drop Shettima, I wouldn’t support that move because they had earlier agreed to contest and work together. I supported them without taking a penny from them. Although I am close to Atiku Abubakar, I chose to vote for Tinubu and Shettima. There are rumors circulating that things aren’t going well between the them but I don’t believe it. In my opinion, it’s the work of their enemies.”

Sheik Jingir, however, urged President Tinubu not to listen to those calling for him to drop Shettima in 2027, describing such people as enemies of progress.

We agree but which part of the South? Tinubu should immediately step down and support Obi then. I think it's a little too late for the SW to be begging for unity.

@topic, heads or tail, for allowing this speculation to fester, Tinubu has lost their votes already even if he ends up retaining Shettima. But the blowback will be even more severe if he drops Shettima. Contrary to what he thinks, choosing someone from the Northwest will still not make Northwesterners support Tinubu. Northerners are not like that. They are already wary of him and looking at him with distrust after the betrayal of Elrufai. Without the entire South rallying round him, I truly don't see a pathway to Tinubu's re-election.

Okay. We've seen his grade in politricks, what is his score in governance? You keep mouthing "Tinubu is not Jonathan" but he's the first presidential candidate to have won an election with the least margin ever in the history of the country. Northern votes (5.6m) made him president, and that is fast evaporating. He lost the South woefully and is on course to lose the South again. Yes, Tinubu is not Jonathan but he's also not Buhari with a cult followership of 12m votes. He's beatable.

You don't need to answer him. Tinubu is not Jonathan actually. That Jonathan will be the one that will take him back to Lagos 2027.

Sheik Jinjir is just a political Mallam and walking alone. Whether Tinubu retain Shetimma or not , he is OTP straight.

Tinubu must be in a serious dilemma; with or without any threat.

1. Muslim-muslim (Mumu) ticket may not work in 2027.
2. Even if he's to do "Mumu", he will need someone among the core Hausas or Fulani and not a Kanuri who are perceived to be minorities in the North.
3. The recent spike of killings, kidnapping and banditry in the Middle belt as well as reinforcement of the Boko boys in Borno state is not too good for him.

Meanwhile, dropping his vice may lead to protest vote against him from that part of the North. Ali Ndume is already vocal against him and he won't want more enemies now that 2027 is close by.

All in all, Que sera sera

Your sudden love for politics is really making you go gaga.

You have been on Nairaland daily shouting how the north will not vote Tinubu as that's going to be the end of the world.

You are free to delude yourself afterall your permutations in 2022 APC primary failed yakata, so also your predictions that Tinubu will not win 2023 election also fell flat.

Just continue banking on the North to help defeat your greatest enemy on earth, the same North won't send you in making their 2027 political decision.

Grow up

My brother, he is very very beatable. I just pray that INEC should step up this time and let the People decide. The incumbent don't stand a chance at all.

Yes he had least vote margin in the history of Nigeria because of two things. One - election result in Nigeria would have been written before election day and not count, TWO most powerful people in APC then did not support him including Buhari. Finally it will be very difficult to defeat Tinubu come 2027. IRE O

Northerners miscalculated because they know Tinubu is not a gentleman, they supported him thinking he will not be able to finish His first tenure due to the way He was doing during the campaign period. There plan was YARADUA/ GEJ game but now reverse is the case. He will finish His eight years and it's only God that can remove him. He's not GEJ that doesn't know how to use power.

His scorecards compared to his predecessors shows he's still A++ in governance. He brought out policies even OBJ, Abacha, Obi, El Rufai, IBB, etc won't even do if they're in one body. So it's God to say he's the best thing that has happened to Nigeria democracy.

Not this time.

Middle for Tinubu straight, southwest plus lagos for tinubu. Abuja tinubu. Ego centric south East can vote anyone they want. Core north oyo.

Tinubu will win even without any rigging by wide margin

Obi should reach out to Tinubu and propose to be his vice. This way, 95% of the East will vote for them. This sacrifice will ensure power comes to the East but I know his Ego won't allow him do that
